Incremental sync, syncing whole library!

Emby-server 3.2.60.0

Sync Queue  2.0.0.0

Hi, for some time I have had an issue where each day I run kodi with the emby plugin it seems the incremental sync is syncing the whole library (2000+) instead of just syncing the new content.

This only usually happens once a day after “scan media library” schedule task is triggered on the emby-server.

If I manually trigger a  “scan media library” then I get the same result in kodi of a 2000+ sync (this happens whether or not new content has been added).

Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

Kind regards

Same thing is happening on Ubuntu 16.04.3, Emby Version 3.3.1.0

After the last Emby Server upgrade, the Kodi Sync plugin updated as well.  On the average, boxes went from having maybe 150 updates a day to sync, to having more than 2000+ items to sync, a couple of times a day.

Additionally, the new content pushes don't seem to be pushing through correctly (worked fine previously) & we're having to run Manual Sync's multiple times a day, to keep the library up todate.

Not sure if this is related to the Plugin Update or the Emby Server Update.  Any thoughts on this?  Should I reset the local database on each of the devices & see if that clears the issue?

Does the library scan show the same items being refreshed repeatedly?

Emby Server 3.3.1.0

Kodi Companion 2.0.2.0

Device: Minix NEO U9-h

Kodi: 17.6 Krypton

We use the Minix NEO U9-h devices on every TV for consistency.  Everything runs the same setup.  TV in the living room, seems to be updating fine for the most part.  TV in the masterbedroom, Sync appears to be broken.

Does the library scan show the same items being refreshed repeatedly?

Yes, it seems to cycle through the same 18 movies to start with each time.  The full library scan of 2,000+ seems to have stopped, but after it updates, it doesn't bring it current so I have to run a manual scan.  The manual scan brings it current.  Previously, a manual scan would take approximatley 2 minutes 30 seconds.  Currently, the manual scan takes around 10 minutes - 30 minutes +.  Since I'm getting different results on different TV's, but have the same hardware across the house, I'm going to clear the Sync Logs/History, bounce the service, & do a full library reset on each of the devices & see if that doesn't clean up whatever is going on.

Anything else you can think I might need to do?

Best-

Darren

To speed up the process, you can create a backup and restore, like here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/plugin.video.emby/wiki/Create-and-restore-from-backup

What were the differences? Why did you need to run a manual sync, are you certain there was not a delay in displaying the changes?

Yes, I'm sure it was not a delay.  The autosync would always sync the same 18 items, then it would launch into an additional sync.  The additional sync would complete but the library would still be missing the most recently added content.  Rebooting the box would sometimes pick up new content other times not.  Doing the manual sync & waiting 30 minutes or so for it to complete, would bring the library current, but had to be done every day.

Update: Doing a Full Database Reset within the Emby Addon in Kodi appears to have fixed the issue, for me.  I have done this on three devices & all three (for the time being) are now updating as would be expected.

Ok keep me posted if the issue comes back. Provide your Kodi log from when you see the issue, if it happens again.

Glad it is working now.

Okay, doubling back on this.  It seems as though an issue does exist, but I'm having trouble describing / pinpointing exactly what's happening.  I did do a full library reset in the Emby AddOn for Kodi (9 boxes) which has helped a great deal.  The boxes do seem to complete incremental sync's, but from time to time they miss some of new content on the server that other boxes already have.  It's almost as if, if one box in the house has sync'ed the new content, it doesn't sync to the other boxes (even if it's new content to the other boxes).

As I can't seem to pinpoint cause & effect, any thoughts on how to begin troubleshooting this?

Yeah, as I stated. Begin by posting your Kodi log from when this happened. It's the fastest way to get to the bottom of this.

Is there anything playing at the time? I've delayed live updates to after playback ends (exception live tv) because people said live updates during playback lagged them out.

However the whole library being synced is definitely not normal. If you use nfo, do they have recent date modified?
