Guest Sabiel Posted March 31, 2018 Posted March 31, 2018 I have Emby Server installed on a Synology NAS.Up until now, I haven't used Emby as a DLNA server instead utilizing the media server on the NAS for that purpose. However, I believe that with user accounts Emby will give me the advantage of parental controls etc. I'm currently trying to make some preparations for the change, and then remove the existing media server; I don't believe this will cause any problems elsewhere that I haven't realized, and there's no need to run both. I seem to be running into questions, and little difficulties though. The first is that I recently deleted all but one device that I knew to be current from the list in Emby Server. It was my belief that the list would populate again as any other devices connected again. This hasn't happened, and the only there is still only the one device listed even though another device has since connected, and played media. Neither does anything other than the one device and Firefox show in active devices on the dashboard, or in recent activity. My second question concerns DLNA profiles. It's my understanding having read a recent post that the Panasonic system profile is outdated. I was, therefore, going to try creating a custom profile from the existing one, and to update it if necessary for direct play, transcoding, containers, and codecs. I'll admit though I got confused very easily on this. What I would want is for the television to direct play all that is capable. I was going to provide a text document giving the supported formats, but the manual is protected so I've had to do it as screenshots instead. Any guidance on this really would be appreciated.I also have a Marantz media player on my network that I had previously not used with Emby as the server. When comparing it to accessing the other media server on the NAS, Emby is very slow. It becomes easier once I get through to the music library, but before that it can take repeated attempts to navigate through the menus. That brings me to the next point which is that I currently see all libraries/channels on the Marantz although the only one to which I want access from that device is music. Perhaps that's what's causing the delays although if I access the other server this is still the same minus the channels without the delay. I had thought that the easiest way of tidying this up would be to create another user account giving access only to the music library, and setting the DLNA profile for the device to display that library instead of the default. The other issue I'm having is that I cannot pause playback at all; the display on the Marantz will change to show paused for a couple of seconds, but there is no pause to play at all. I can stop play, but not pause it. Finally is there any way to change the menu items I see once I access a library? Currently, I see Latest, Playlists, Albums, Album Artists, Artists, Songs, Genres etc. in that order which isn't to my preference. Thanks in advance.
Luke 42077 Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Hi @, apologies for the delay in response. This is a little bit of a hard one but I will go over it soon. I was thinking of just deleting our panasonic profile and funneling all panasonic through the default profile. That will inevitably cause problems for older models, but it might still make sense if more people are on newer models at this point.
