ucjb 14 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 I've been running both Plex and Emby on same box with the web client Plex is SOOO much faster than Emby. Plex take about 6-7 seconds while Emby spins for almost a minute and it is the same for the Roku apps and Android. Why? It's the same PC same network and same media devices. Hell, sometimes Emby just quits.
ebr 16184 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Hi. Can you tell us faster at exactly what? What does Plex take 6-7 seconds to do that we take longer?
ucjb 14 Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 I just restart Emby it was using 75MB at startup 3 minutes later and it's up to 140MB and still climbing. And Emby it's doing anything
Happy2Play 9781 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Emby normally uses 200-300MB of Memory when idle, depending on how much media you have.
ucjb 14 Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 Just comparing Plex to Emby head-to-head all things being equal Plex is sooo much faster.
ucjb 14 Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 It seems like every update Emby gets slower. I have lifetime subs to both but damn I'm about ready to ditch Emby. Just too damn aggravatingly sloooow. I've even tried Emby on a box by itself and it crashes constantly or just takes forever to display content.
Happy2Play 9781 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Sorry everything appears almost instantly on my systems. You still haven't provided any specific information. And what does crashed again mean?
ucjb 14 Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 Crash means the process dies. I am running Ubuntu 16.4 latest MB ver. on Mono
Happy2Play 9781 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 As a Windows user I don't see an issue. You will need to provide logs in order to troubleshoot your install. How to Report a Problem
ebr 16184 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Crash means the process dies. I am running Ubuntu 16.4 latest MB ver. on Mono Is there not a .net core version for your distribution? We are moving away from Mono for reasons like this.
mastrmind11 722 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 for 1, get off the mono version. I am running 16.04 w/ emby docker and literally nothing in emby takes more than 500ms.
Carlo 4561 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Same for me as well. I certainly don't see any long load time in Emby on anything EXCEPT for my movie library which has over 10K movies so it has to pull a lot of info. Luke is working on paging for this so that will get taken care of. If you're getting crashes that tells us something is probably corrupt in your DB or there is some other problem Why don't you upload a set of server log files so we can have a look at them to see if anything is obviously wrong? ucjb 14 Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 Can someone explain how to install the MB .net version?
Luke 42079 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Assuming you're on x64 or armhf, you can migrate to our newer install package by: Doing a complete uninstallation and purge Installing the new package from the website: https://emby.media/download Thanks.
