chuga 4 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 (edited) Hi I have noticed an issue recently (maybe in the last week) with movies streaming and all of a sudden they pause for awhile (maybe a minute). I am running newest emby docker in unraid. To recover I basically restart the docker as waiting for the emby app (on ipad) to respond takes too long. Last night the family was trying to stream three movies at the same time (to three different ipads) and it would not do this - stuttering, locking up, etc. It used to work with no issues and I have not had any hardware changes on the server. Currently I just tried to access Emby server via my PC (using firefox) and got a "problem loading page - connection timed out" error. I waited a few minutes and tried again with no luck so I just restarted the docker. @Luke- I PM'd you the server logs thanks, Edited March 25, 2018 by chuga
Luke 42079 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Hi, since there are no obvious causes in your log, there's a couple things i would try. You could try removing all plugins except for backup and see if it persists. You can also try the beta server and see if it happens there. Thanks.
Moomadness 0 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 I have a very similar issue, family can’t stream when the server has been inactive for a while, please note that I can be streaming over the lan without a problem but the wan is down and family tell me Emmy is down for them, I use the external ip to test and it says the same error chugs has......no hardware changes but it has been ongoing for 2 ish weeks now maybe a update ?.... We are still having the problem with the server locking up and not working well. I just PM'd you the logs from last night and the log from this morning where I had to restart the server as it was non-responsive (could not login).

Thanks. thaks Luke, fyi my pal just had it go down, so i grabbed the log file ans the 3 transcoding files for the period it happened it was for the user called fink he was watching tv then it crashed. the dash shows the episode is still playing but i csnt stop it playing ? thanks for any help in advance moo

Disabled the plugins, rebooted server. Still not working well. Movies pausing/hanging. Can't login to emby server via webapp, etc. Will PM you new logs.

I'll give it a shot. Unfortunately I can't find where to enable beta server version - I seem to recall there used to be a setting in the dashboard for stable/beta/etc but I do not see that anywhere. Can you let know how to switch to beta? I am using unraid-docker thanks update - I figured out that I needed to download a new/different beta docker to do this, and disable Emby 'stable' docker. The only difficult thing is setting up the server from scratch now - all of the folders and users, etc! Edited March 31, 2018 by chuga

Hi - OK I tried beta server docker. I started from scratch and created users, did not restore from a file. No plugins at all installed. Streaming a movie to ipad and it froze, can't login from a PC via webapp when that happens, I have to restart the dockers. I did that and it locked up again after a few minutes. Will PM you logs.

When videos direct play Emby does very little work, and yet you're saying it's still freezing. I think you potentially have external problems outside of the docker container. At this point there isn't really much I can recommend.

At this point there isn't really much I can recommend. Hi Luke - There is no ffmpeg folder in the new emby beta server folder. There is no ffmpeg path option in the transcoding menu - how do I get ffmpeg mapped?

I was just wondering why it was not transcoding as I was streaming to the ipad. Well I have no idea what is going on then. The unraid server itself is running OK - temperatures OK, drives OK. I can access it OK when emby server is locked up so the server itself is not frozen. assume it is not the ipad app itself?
Luke 42079 Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 Probably because it's just a plain mp4 and the ipad can handle that. It sounds to me like a problem on the machine. Perhaps some kind of network congestion causing requests to fail, thus preventing you from reaching the server dashboard. Or perhaps a hardware failure.

Luke 42079 Posted April 1, 2018 Posted April 1, 2018 I am also having the problem where Emby stops responding during direct play playback in WMC. WMC will return to the main screen while playback resumes. I can go back into the Emby screen without error. After this event, playback is 'buggy'; i cannot fast forward or rewind unless I close WMC. I havent added any plugins or made any configuration changes since the problems started a few days ago. This is entirely different. Please open a topic in the Emby for WMC section. Thanks.
