DVR: Record episodes of show by library quality.

as the tile it would be cool if DVR could automatically record an episode of a show that is being broadcast in a higher resolution that is currently in y my library.

 

lets say i have a show called Endeavour and i already have all the episodes in a mix of SD/720p, it would be good if i could add a recording schedule (even if the show is NOT in the guide anywhere), then link it to my existing Show in library, and get the schedule to ONLY record episodes that are broadcast in HD / or that are on a HD Channel, and place them in the existing library folder, rename old files to *.bak, and move new recordings into this folder.

I came to post something like this; if I already have an SD copy of a series recording give an option to replace if an HD airing occurs.

This happens to me a lot with PBS, I'll end up with a mix of 720 and 480 because I didn't catch a show as soon as it originally aired-- first reruns are on SD sub-channel but eventually it will re-air on on main PBS channel.
