GothsterC 50 Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Hello, I'm having some problems with the multiple versions feature which I love, BTW. I'm hoping that eventually you will add in the ability to select the default version manually which might solve all of the issues I am having. Here is an example of that is going on. I have a folder called Halloween [1978]. In that I have my HD Blu-Ray and that file is called: Halloween [1978] - Theatrical Version.mkv The nfo file is created and everything is great. The coverart shows the HD overlay. Then I add in my SD DVD of the Extended TV Version like this: Halloween [1978] - Extended TV Version.mkv The Extended TV Version nfo file gets created. I see two files in the web interface and when I look at the page for Halloween, I properly have two choices. The default choice is the HD theatrical version which is what I want. But then I have two problems: 1. When I go into the metadata manager I see that the Extended TV Version is assigned to the movie. I think it might be going alphabetically when selecting the nfo to use. I cannot change that. That's not a big issue as long as I can change the fields. 2. The coverart overlay now shows the SD overlay which is not what I want. I'm guessing it is going with whatever nfo the server decides to use to represent the movie or perhaps it too is going alphabetically. If I could select the default and have that selection impact the metadata manager's nfo file and the coverart plug-in that would be great. Thanks.
fonzie 22 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 I had the same question a while ago: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/56165-organizing-multiple-quality-movies/ It seems you cannot yet control which file gets the nfo. It's kind of like the luck of the draw.
GothsterC 50 Posted March 25, 2018 Author Posted March 25, 2018 I ran an interesting experiment. While you cannot control which one shows up as the default since Emby selects which one it feels is the best, I was able to control which nfo file shows up in the metadata manager and which one coverart uses. Using my example, I renamed my files to: The HD file: Halloween [1978] - 1_Theatrical Version.mkv The SD file: Halloween [1978] - 2_Extended TV Version.mkv and it worked. So it is alphabetical order that controls that. I repeated this with the half dozen or so movies I have both in SD and HD versions and it worked with all of them. So while you cannot yet control which one Emby defaults to in the movie detail screen, you can at least control which nfo file is used in the metadata manager and which one is used for coverart as long as this 'ugly hack' file renaming thing isn't too distasteful.
Luke 42092 Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 Yea this is something we still need to look at. The default at this point may seem arbitrary.
mbnwa 49 Posted March 26, 2018 Posted March 26, 2018 I agree with the above all my 4K UHD movies show Blu-ray due to having the Blu-ray version as well, it would also be nice to also hide the file extension from the drop down when selecting the version of the movie.
