Missing Trailers | search for missing metadata helps

Hi,

I've been using Emby for some weeks now and discovered an issue with the trailers for movies.

My newly added movies had no trailers button.

After executing a library scan with "search for missing metadata" all missing trailers reoccur.

I don't know if it's normal or not, but is there a way to do that scan automatically(as a task)?

Hi.  That scan will happen automatically in time.

And in what time and is it possible to change that time?

Some movies have been in library for 6 days and still now trailer.

Hi.  Please see: Scheduled tasks to adjust schedules.  But don't get too aggressive with them as those scans can take some time in certain instances.

Hi.

I don't get what the correct schedule is.

"Scan media Library" is every 3h so can't be the right one. I had to execute manually Library scan with "Scan for missing metadata".

So how can that special scan be added to schedules?

So is the media coming with existing metadata?  That is the only way I can see Emby not getting the information on the first scan.  More information is needed.

Can you provide the steps in a specific example.

Yea are you saying the trailers are there initially but are getting lost? I don't quite understand the issue. Thanks.

No, I'm saying when a new movie is firstly added to library with all metadata then the trailer button is missing.

Only when I perform a library scan with "Scan for missing metadata" the trailer for the movie is available.

Posted

Ok yes this is because we have an operation at the end of the library scan that links the movie with trailers from the trailer channel.

I've tested again today.

I added 2 movies to my Library (A Bad Moms Christmas + The Snowman -> German Title: Bad Moms 2 + Schneemann).

Bad Moms movie has the trailer button and The Snowman doesn't.

I looked into the log and for some reason I can only find The Snowman and not Bad Moms:

2018-03-24 10:47:30.764 Info LibraryMonitor: Schneemann (/volume1/Filme/Schneemann (2017) BluRay[1080p@x264][6ch@DTS] [5.0]/Schneemann (2017) BluRay[1080p@x264][6ch@DTS] [5.0].mkv) will be refreshed.
2018-03-24 10:47:30.764 Info LibraryMonitor: Filme (/volume1/Filme) will be refreshed.

So can you tell me why and how I am be able to always get the trailers w/o manual scan library for missing metdata?

Posted

There see multiple sources for trailers, and some are pulled in via library scan, some from the trailer plugin.

I dont use trailer plugin.

I just dont get, how the movie that isn't in the log(no library scan?) can have the trailer and the one that was scanned has no trailer.

Try refreshing it from the web app detail screen and see if that brings in a trailer. Without the trailer plugin the only source will be your own local trailer files or moviedb, so you could check there.

Now I'm complete lost.

Today even Bad Moms trailer is gone, I did nothing by myself.

The only thing I found in the log:

do you have nfo metadata?

Posted

Then it sounds like something has changed your nfo metadata and removed trailer urls. Then you refresh in Emby and that brings it back, until later something external modifies your nfo again.

Thats odd. Makes sense with the metadata nfo, but I only run Plex and Emby and both should not change the metadata nfo.

And I also can't find any trailer url in the nfo file.

But nevertheless I give up and just perform a library scan manually every few days.

PS: I uploaded the nfo file.

Do you allow emby to overwrite the nfo? Or do you have that disabled?

postboy99
Posted

Yes,

I allow Emby:

Save image paths within nfo files
and
Enable path substitution

Should I disable it?
Posted

@@postboy99, you should only enable those things if you want them. Can you try to identify a time frame when this happens, and then attach the server log from that time? That might help us determine the cause. Thanks !
