QDivision 42 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Hi, I use the Emby for Kodi plugin which works great most of the time however I'm recently having an issue with trailer playback (both external trailers for local films and cinema mode trailers) The problem is the playback struggles to buffer and has to pause constantly to buffer. It's not a problem with my internet or network as I have 80mbps down and have no other network issues. I've played around with various playback methods and here's what I have found (Kodi v17.6 on Windows 10 latest build) If I play a film trailer from it's information page after going into the Movie section the playback is fine and there doesn't seem to be any playback information the the emby dashboard. It also seems to use the YouTube plugin in Kodi since it request installation if not used. If I play a film trailer from the Kodi home screen (hovering on the movie section then pressing right to get to the recently added, unwatched sections etc.) then press 'information' for a particular film then play trailer. I get the stuttering problem, I also get playback information through Emby dashboard and don't need the YouTube plugin to play. When playing cinema mode trailers, no matter how I start the filem the playback issues occur, I also get playback information for the trailers in emby dashboard and don't need the YouTube plugin. Additionally these trailers DO NOT show metadata in Kodi, instead shows 'stream' in the top left no no poster or plot information. I do get metadata when playing trailers for a given film. This seems like a bug in the plugin, if you need any more info let me know. Hope to get this solved!
abescalamis 84 Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 I think you issue might be related to this: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/57013-cinema-mode-issue/
Luke 42078 Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Hi, how do the cinema mode trailers compare in the web app?
QDivision 42 Posted March 20, 2018 Author Posted March 20, 2018 Only use the cinema mode in Kodi but just tested in the web app and I get the same stuttering problems. So this seems to be an Emmy problem rather than the plugin, although still strange about the different playback methods in Kodi having different outcomes. The 2nd issue the Kodi showing 'stream' instead of the actual metadata seems like a plugin issue though? 1
Angelblue05 4132 Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Yeah but it is corrected in the beta version of emby for kodi I believe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
QDivision 42 Posted March 24, 2018 Author Posted March 24, 2018 Just tried the latest release of the kodi addon v2.3.63 and the trailer streaming seems to be working better. However the cinema mode trailers still don't show any metadata, it still shows 'stream' in the top left corner instead of the trailer title and there's no poster in the info section when you pause.
Angelblue05 4132 Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 There's no difference between 2.3.63 and 2.3.62 except one line to make the add-on compatible with the server plugin's latest changes. As I said in my previous post, this should be corrected in beta so you'll just have to wait until I push beta to stable in a few days.
QDivision 42 Posted March 27, 2018 Author Posted March 27, 2018 I've just installed 3.0.16 and can see the 'stream' is now replaced with the selected movie title when playing cinema trailers. However should it not display the name of the trailer playing?
Angelblue05 4132 Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 I hear ya, but it's not possible to change this at this time. I'm hoping with Kodi Leia changes, I'll be able to correct this. 1
