SamES 1057 Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 I think you can just move a single folder somewhere else, re scan library, move it back and see if it's added with no metadata loss. For me watched state was maintained already on stable branch but date added was reset to the folder date modified. Sure. I suppose the question for me is will it immediately delete the metadata/library folder data or will this be maintained? I think there is a real difference though between deleting a file, deleting/moving a folder and loosing connection to an entire library. I could imagine that deleting a file would delete the metadata relatively quickly, but not on a network disconnect (as was my issue with .9)

I could imagine that deleting a file would delete the metadata relatively quickly, but not on a network disconnect (as was my issue with .9) It depends how exactly media is accessed. If for example you mounted a network share then disconnect and deletion may look the same. As it is now emby just hides the missing library items from the user while maintaining the actual metadata. This is fine in that at least no data is lost (except date modified). Your issue is different than the original thread. You can also work around it by disabling automatic library scans. New files will still be added but not removed. My issue is that even if library scan is disabled date modified will be reset since emby will see the previously missing item restored as a new file and add it (everything but the modified date is maintained). It would be great if you could confirm if the latter issue is resolved in beta. Edited March 28, 2018 by dominicM 1

Yes, I can confirm as per my earlier post that all the resume, watched status and date added has been maintained with .10 beta. This is definitely a positive result. You're right in that this differs slightly from you're original post, but I think this side effect is related to the same topic/issue (prevent emby from removing missing media)
