jonomite 29 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 Last night, I used Musicbrainz Picard to add missing tags to my music library. I was able to add missing Musicbainz IDs to the vast majority of my library. However, Emby is still not using the correct Musicbrainz ID for certain artists - the artist name matches, but it's not the correct one. I've verified that albums for these artists all have correct IDs from Picard. Am I missing something here?
Luke 42085 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 Did you try running a library scan after doing this?
jonomite 29 Posted March 18, 2018 Author Posted March 18, 2018 Did you try running a library scan after doing this? Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I did a full library scan and replaced all metadata. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
jonomite 29 Posted March 18, 2018 Author Posted March 18, 2018 Some other info in case it is helpful to troubleshoot this. I took a look at the artist.nfo file in my app data settings and noticed that it is displaying the incorrect Musicbrainz id. I have verified that the music files have the correct id, however. Also, for some reason, the date addted in the nfo file doesn't seem to match the date reported when I click on "edit info" from the artist menu in Emby. Do I need to just delete this library and start fresh at this point?
Luke 42085 Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 Can we look at a specific example in detail? Thanks.
jonomite 29 Posted March 18, 2018 Author Posted March 18, 2018 Can we look at a specific example in detail? Thanks.Sure, I can post a screenshot. In the meantime, I was doing some searches and wonder if the problem is that the nfo file is being saved in a hidden folder? The server maybe doesn't have write access? jonomite 29 Posted March 18, 2018 Author Posted March 18, 2018 (edited) What hidden folder?I have enabled the "save metadata and images as hidden files" in my library settings. Could this be the culprit? Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk Edited March 18, 2018 by jonomite
jonomite 29 Posted March 19, 2018 Author Posted March 19, 2018 (edited) Can we look at a specific example in detail? Thanks.Hello, Last night, I decided to delete my entire music library and start over. I also deselected the option to hide metadata. It appears that I am still missing certain artist metadata due to an incorrect Musicbrainz ID (and I can't for the life of me figure out how the incorrect ID pops up). I've attached an example. The incorrect artist info is U2. Emby correctly detects my albums, but doesn't seem to pick up an ID from the file metadata. EDIT: I feel like the issue seems to occur when there are multiple artists with the same name in Musicbrainz. For example, I'm also getting the error with Creed (U.S. band) and Air (French duo). In both instances, there appear to be artists in Musicbrainz with the same name that have a higher score. Perhaps Emby doesn't use the artist ID from the actual files to look up the artist metadata?
