How do you handle DVR wrong episode numbers?

I'm curious how you guys handle wrong episode numbers?

 

As an example I have Dirty Jobs set up to record/fill in any missing episodes.

Today I see it's wanting to record "S4:E26 - Vellum Maker" however that episode is already in my library as S4:E23.

 

I use FileBot to rename everything and have it use theTVDB. It's listed as episode 23.

This is just one example but I see this happen a lot.  So I'm wondering how you guys handle this on your systems?

 

@@Luke a real cool option for DVR would be to have an option to check for season/episode Or title.  The title's always seem to match even when the episode numbers do not.  I think for me or other using a tool such as FileBot and have good names the Title match could be better.

I use Tiny Media Manager for anything wrong like that

 

Main reason is that it gives a nice list of episodes so its easy to select the correct one

so for your example

 

I would open the details page for S4:E26

Click the select episode button, this would then list all episodes for the show (from tvdb)

I would find the correct episode, E23 and select it, this would then pull down the metadata for that episode

Then right click that episode and select rename

Yes, the problem with this is that the recording is always wrong but it's fixed after the fact.  So for example if you NEED episode 26 but when ever episode 26 is recorded it's always the wrong one.  So you never get the missing episode fills you need/want.

@@Luke is there any way we can be given a choice of season/episode VS TITLE matching?

This would solve the issue for those using proper naming or a tool such as filebot.

I think a dvr option to query tv to try and fix the episode numbers would be better.

Ideally a check/correction during loading of the XMLTV file would be the ticket!

Basically, fix the data before it's added to the database.
