jrhessey 21 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I've moved over from WDTV live and LOVE MB. The ONE thing I can not stand is the FF/RW on the Roku. I know this isn't because of MB. I have been Googling and discovered Rokus Trick Mode which shows thumbnails from a BIFServer while you are ff/rw in the video. After reading all night, it looks like the channel has to support it, not sure on that though. Has anyone heard of this or used this? Is there another option so I'm not guessing while ff or rw? Thanks!!
gcw07 347 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 One of the reasons why we haven't added support for trick mode is that unfortunately it does not work for HLS. So that means if we have to transcode the file it wouldn't work. If your able to direct play it then yes it would work perfectly fine. I'm guessing though that more people are transcoding the files for playback then those who have the correct media types to direct play stuff. So it wouldn't be very helpful for most users.

gcw07 347 Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Yes, unfortunately it is a limitation of the current Roku software. They only support trick mode bif files for a direct playback method and not for HLS (which is what we use to transcode files).

Sent from my Lumia 920 using Tapatalk Really none. We will see what Amazon has to offer if the rumors turn out to be true. But not sure how much better it will be. Most are not going to be able to produce anything better for FF/RW without something like a BIF file and I would doubt many support that with HLS.
Luke 42077 Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 The Roku thumbnail plugin has been updated with a new configuration screen to match the look and feel of the rest of Emby Server. I think you'll find it much more enjoyable to use and configure now. Thanks.
