how is Emby getting to my server behind my router with port forwarding disabled?

I noticed that emby clients can get to my server behind my router firewall and I do not have port forwarding enabled for http, https, tcp or any other for port 8096,

yet I can connect to it.

Is emby connect relaying the packets?

I sent my neighbor an invite to use my server and he can connect as well though sometimes the connection is really choppy and I was wondering if he is being relayed via emby connect

somehow?

If I do enable port forwarding for tcp port 8096 to my internal server will my guest clients get better performance?

It shouldn't be accessable unless you have the port forwarded. Are you sure you don't have UPNP enabled?

Most likely the automatic port mapper, which you can always disable.

Let me check if that was enabled by default, I did not enable it.

You were asked about it in the startup wizard.
