tdiguy 99 Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Many of the programs that i record from tv use AC3 audio. The mi boxes i use don't seem to support ac3 audio. I havent actually looked this up but they always have issues playing it. So i hit the thing for playback correction and the emby server direct streams to the device and all is well. Is there a way to tell either the server or the client to automatically transcode / direct stream ac3 to aac?
Luke 42077 Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 We should already be doing this automatically when needed.
tdiguy 99 Posted March 10, 2018 Author Posted March 10, 2018 The odd part is that on the mi box when watching live tv it direct plays this same program without issue. When i record it and play it back i normally have to hit playback correction and it will then direct stream it and work fine. Since this is just a tv i poked around the options in emby on the mi box and i switched it to downmix to stereo, now it automatically direct streams. Not sure why it behaves differently but not sure how much i care either since direct stream is not cpu intensive.
mastrmind11 722 Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 fwiw, I have converted a bunch of my kids movies to AC3 from DTS because the mibox is what they use, and have 0 issues direct playing them.

I just tried the show on the mi box i updated to 7 and it direct plays without issue. I swear these things are just trying to whittle away my sanity.
