dhallam 2 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I don't know if anyone has reported this or not but I am no longer getting Resume when I have watched any video then stop like halfway through or even a few minutes. This was working until recently and I am on the Beta updates path, and have recently had the server update. It still works for the films over two weeks old which is very odd, but any newly added films are not working. This is happening on two of my media machines. All of my films are shared via unc paths that the user has full permissions, and access from all PC,s I have checked on the server and its till set to 5% and 90% for the resumed settings. I have also noticed that when playing previously added films from a few weeks ago, when they are being played I can see the live time of the current playing film and the total running time in the active connections. But all the newly added films show nothing at all. An example I have a folder hunger games[boxset] Now the hunger games film works fine and allows me to pause-resume at any point But the new hunger games catching fire added this week does not show any running time from the server dashboard, and does not have any resume when stopped. And if let's say played for 2 mins , will then show as watched. if anyone needs any testing or logs just let me know and I will post. I have looked through the logs while doing this and cannot see anything obvious, its just very odd as is only effecting newly added films. Cheers for any help, and good work on an excellent product.
ebr 16177 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 You never said what you were using to play them back but this sounds like an identification or metadata problem. Be sure that the items in question are actually identified properly as movies and have full metadata (including media info).
dhallam 2 Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Hi sorry this is mainly on media browser theatre but have also tested on classics on two of my htpc units. I have trying clearing the metadata from the folders and just leave the raw film mkv files , and it gets the data again as it should and all artwork seems fine. Is their anything else I can check?
ebr 16177 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Does the length and other video information show for these items in the web client?
dhallam 2 Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Hi I have had a play with the web client now as I hadn't before and this has the same but different issue. When playing any of the old movies they play fine in the web client and show the time and duration in the dashboard. Now if I try to play any of the new movies when you click play in the web client nothing happens. The movie just doesn't load at all, I also cannot see any errors in the logs but have attached the server logs anyway. I have tested this in ie11 ie10 firefox and Chrome and all have the same issue. Cheers server-63530870400.log

dhallam 2 Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 That may be the issue as their is no video information on the ones not working. I get the following below for the ones that work and the ones that don't: NON working Film: Working Film :
ebr 16177 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Yes, that is the problem. What happens if you force refresh the non-working one? Does it then get the length and video information? If not, there will be an error in your logs.
dhallam 2 Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 that's excellent I did a full re-fresh of the 6 films and they all now work fine, as long as I have a work around that will be fine, just have to remember to do a refresh when I add new content. cheers ebr
uspider7 17 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 got the same issue, kinda of a bummer on having to refresh it manually, is there a way that this can be a scheduled task? Is it suppose to this when the movie/episode is added, or is it done at a later time, adding the media info.

Good day, You can add task for that at the time you want: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/692-mb3-server-setup-and-configuration/&do=findComment&comment=24085 Also normally, if you enable that: My best
foghat 65 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I actually had to disable real time monitoring because of this issue. My movies can take 15 minutes to copy to their final resting place. With monitoring enabled, it would (I think) start collecting metadata before the file was fully copied. I suspect this is why I was getting no duration. In addition to scheduling, I now do a manual scan after adding something. Would be nice if we specify a delay on the real time monitoring.
Scott750 29 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I was having the same issue with real time monitoring. It was suggested in another thread to rip the movie to a "Temp" folder that is not monitored by MB3. After the movies rip completes, Then I simply Cut/Paste the movie into my monitored MB3 folder and all metadata shows up perfectly. No more manually refreshing movies. I know its been brought before having the real-time monitoring wait until a little longer until movie has finished ripping before scrapping data. Maybe it's in the works for a future build. But at least this method is a fool-proof work-around.
foghat 65 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) Mine is not a ripping issue. I rip to a local folder and then move to my nas when done. Since it is only a 100mb/s device the move takes a long time. Instead of specifying a delay, would be nice if server could be smart enough to tell file has finished copying before starting scrape. Scott750 29 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Make a temp folder on your NAS. Then when you move the movie it will copy instantly as it only has to change the the file location, not physically move it on the same drive. That's how mine does it.
foghat 65 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Ya maybe, I have thought before about doing that. But really, if I am going to do all that babysitting, I might as well just move to the movie folder and run a manual scan or let the scheduled scan pick it up.
