There is a new beta version of EMC available (.311).

There should not be any changes to the interface just some internal changes to make interaction with the server a bit more efficient.

If you use EMC for music, please test this version out and be sure everything is working like it always has.

Thanks.

Thanks ebr, for the update.

So far it is working very well

Thanks.  .312 went out today and now also makes internal changes to how movie and TV libraries are handled - but only really if you have the option to show the sub-views enabled.

It looks like support for legacy folder browsing has been removed. Is there any way to restore that?

What, exactly, are you looking for?

Some of the old methods of retrieval EMC was using are making moving the server forward very difficult.  So, describe exactly what you are trying to achieve and maybe we can come up with a different way to do it.

Basically, I just want to be able to organize some TV series into folders so that every series doesn't show up at the top level. Have I missed a new way to accomplish this without using the legacy folder browsing mode?

Have you tried enabling the Folders option under server display settings?

I don't see a Folders option under display settings, but did just try enabling the Library Folders option for TV under Home Screen settings. That didn't appear to do anything. In case it makes a difference, I am using the classic theme and have all of the Top Level Views settings disabled because I just want to see a simple folder layout that reflects the directory structure into which I have organized TV series. Version .307 still does that for me with the current server version. Am I just holding onto an old way of doing things that won't be supported in future releases, or is there a new way to accomplish the same thing? Thanks very much for the help.

Didn't that add a folders option to your home screen?

Okay please try .314 and see if it restores what you are looking for.

No, it didn't, but it wouldn't surprise me if that's because I have turned something else off that would be required in order to make it show up. I tried adjusting a few other folder-relating settings, but nothing worked.

Ok, try restarting the app after enabling that option.

Yes, that restores exactly what I had with previous releases. I assume the legacy folder view feature is still something that you eventually want to remove, however? If so, is there be a way to duplicate that feature with a View that uses some sort of virtual folder metadata rather than just reflecting the directory hierarchy on the filesystem?

I tried that, but no folders show up. Fortunately, things are back to normal (for me, anyway), with version .314.

By the way, though I prefer using the plain legacy folders view of TV series in the WMC client, I also often look at the Suggestions or Latest Views in the web or iOS app. What would be really useful is to have both options available at the top level, which I suspect is what you were saying should be possible if I enabled the Folders option?

Ditto - I use the WMC and Browser clients in the same way as 'spf'. Legacy folders is presently my preferred view for the dedicated lounge WMC.
