box set for movies

I see in the update a way to create a collection for box set movies. How exactly do I do this? Currently I have all my Harry Potter movies in one folder named the Harry Potter collection. It'd be nice to have that main folder with some kinda box set art. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you already have them created physically you just didn't tag it as a box set.

 

To use the new facility, you would want to take them out of this physical structure and then create the set with the web editor (as shown in the blog post).

Ok I've tried and I can't figure out how to create it with the web editor. Could you point me in the right direction? Thanks

1) Take your Harry Potter movies and move them into the same folder as you'd keep any comparable movies.

2) Run a media scan so the new locations are known.

3) Click the MediaBrowser icon in the upper left corner.

4) Click Collections at the top of the MB UI.

5) Click New.

6) Type in the collection name, in this case Harry Potter Collection.

7) Check the box 'Search the internet for artwork and metadata.

8) Click Create

9) Click the newly created collection.

10) Click Edit

11) Click the Titles section of the editor.

12) Click Add

13) Type in a search phrase.  Potter likely works in this case.

14) Click the Add button below each movie in the collection.

15) Click the Add button at the bottom of the search results.

 

You may wish to edit the metadata for the boxset as parental rating and genres aren't usually populated.

I think that's the issue. On the web browser UI home page, all I see are my folders I have selected along with movies/tv shows/music. There's no collections tab. If I click on the movies box then go to collections, there's no create button. I think I may have a setting turned off or something? Can't figure it out.

This is a brand new feature in the beta version of the server.  Are you on the beta or the release?
