moviefan 187 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Not sure where the most appropriate place to ask this question is... In the description of the new server release it says that the new web interface collection creation method "is now the preferred way to create collections." What exactly does this mean? I have a very large collection and all of my "boxset" collections are in folders with collection.xml files. I like having it this way. Should I be looking into migrating them into a flat folder for some reason with the way MB is headed?
Abobader 3464 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Good day, No need, my setup is the same. The new option for whom want to add/modify their boxset, as well easy way to simply add a collection (at any kind). So no more tag is need it, but if you have that tag in the old way, no harm, still supported. My best
hedgehogg 104 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 But now with the new system working alongside the old I have 2 top level entries 'Boxsets' (My original setup) and 'Collections' not pretty
Abobader 3464 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Good day, My setup I do not use top folder for all my boxset, box set are within movies and a like, example: That what I meant in my last post. So I only have my box set show on "Collections" at the web client. My best
Danee 57 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) I had this setup using the auto boxset plugin which created a seperate folder for the boxsets. The plugin is updated to make use of the new server features and instead of using a user defined path for boxsets it now uses a predefined path. Earlier I had my boxset folder added to my library but there is no need for that anymore. I think for new users this is way better for usability, unfortunatly existing setups may need some manual work to clear it up a bit. There is still work beeing done one this feature, I had to install a Dev version (for the iPad playback issue) and have already seen changes on it. Edit: here's a post with some more about this: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/5379-auto-box-set-hide-movies-after-boxset-created-and-show-boxsets-in-all-views/page-2&do=findComment&comment=81590 Edited March 19, 2014 by Danee
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I haven't yet had a chance to test any of the client apps, but the web UI Movies view actually shows the collections instead of the individual movies if you create them the new way. It would show the individual movies when I had them in [boxset] folders. The UI for creation and editing is great so I've gone ahead and rebuilt all my collections. PITA but that's what beta means
ebr 16177 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 The auto box sets plug-in would have done it for you if they are standard collections.
