karldonteljames 3 Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 I started by restoring the "library" file from a backup. As expected this didn't have any of my latest media on, so performed a library scan. Within about three or four minutes, I get "no items" in all my libraries. Thinking it might be a corrupt library database file, I deleted the library file and performed a scan, items slowly begin to appear. I get about 6/7 hours into the scan, (about 72% - more than once) check again and al libraries show... "no items" The point I'm at now is to remove emby server and re-install, then restore user play state, config, and settings. I'm getting really annoyed by this, as I now my media system is completely unusable. I've run chkdsk scans on my c: drive and on my Emby cache drive, no problems are showing themselves.\ Any ideas why on earth this has happened?
moviefan 187 Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I think some people's library DBs are just in a state that requires a rebuild upon upgrading to 3.3 and we haven't yet identified what those specific conditions are. You probably restored your DB pre 3.3 upgrade and it just went through the same process again.
karldonteljames 3 Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 I deleted the library database file, and started from scratch. (removed emby server) once re-installed i restored the users and their play-state. I kicked off a library scan, and that took about 5 hours, at which point it jumped from about 72% to complete. to be sure, I kicked off another scan and at that point, all items then disappeared again. Log file is attached. embyserverlog.log
Luke 42077 Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I would just allow the scan to finish without interrupting it. You enabled chapter image extraction, therefore the scan is expected to take significantly longer. Thanks.
karldonteljames 3 Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 (edited) I did leave the scan to complete. I'm also aware that chapter image will extend the time a scan takes, but I don't expect all items to disappear when the scan starts again. (is it possible to store extracted chapters with the media, so that the next time a library is rebuilt the files are already there?) I've copied the entire log from the server itself, and it is below. One thing I have noted is that where the log is saying the images have been extracted i.e. "\\media-centre\MediaBrowserData$\cache\temp\049e7177-f6d6-4341-87b0-5ec8779e2cf3.jpg" these files do not actually exist. karldonteljames 3 Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 (edited) library scan completed. just need to wait and see what happens now. I've tried to restore the play state, but it doesn't seem to be working. I've selected the restore point from two days ago. and selected just the users and play state, I noticed last time I completed a restore that emby server will restart automatically. After about three or four minutes nothing happens. 2018-03-03 22:23:23.818 Info Server Configuration Backup: Restore of Emby Backup - 2018-03-02 12.10.0 - Auto Started 2018-03-03 22:23:23.822 Info Server Configuration Backup: Copied up \\maximus\emby\Emby Backup - 2018-03-02 12.10.0 - Auto\users\Aunty Mush\sec.txt to C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\config\users\cfdc1c07310d4eb9a3265bf297cbe3fb\sec.txt 2018-03-03 22:23:23.823 Info Server Configuration Backup: Copied up \\maximus\emby\Emby Backup - 2018-03-02 12.10.0 - Auto\users\Aunty Mush\config.xml to C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\config\users\cfdc1c07310d4eb9a3265bf297cbe3fb\config.xml 2018-03-03 22:23:23.825 Error Server Configuration Backup: Error Copying \\maximus\emby\Emby Backup - 2018-03-02 12.10.0 - Auto\users\Aunty Mush\folder.jpg to C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\config\users\cfdc1c07310d4eb9a3265bf297cbe3fb\folder.jpg *** Error Report *** Version: 3.3.0.0 Command line: C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll -noautorunwebapp Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True User Interactive: True Processor count: 12 Program data path: C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata Application directory: C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\Users\woodsfamily\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\config\users\cfdc1c07310d4eb9a3265bf297cbe3fb\folder.jpg' is denied. at System.IO.Win32FileSystem.CopyFile(String sourceFullPath, String destFullPath, Boolean overwrite) at System.IO.File.InternalCopy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite) at System.IO.File.Copy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite) at MBBackup.ServerEntryPoint.CopyFile(String source, String target, Boolean createDirectory) System.UnauthorizedAccessException at System.IO.Win32FileSystem.CopyFile(String sourceFullPath, String destFullPath, Boolean overwrite) at System.IO.File.InternalCopy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite) at System.IO.File.Copy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite) at MBBackup.ServerEntryPoint.CopyFile(String source, String target, Boolean createDirectory) 2018-03-03 22:23:23.825 Error HttpServer: Error processing request Edited March 3, 2018 by karldonteljames
karldonteljames 3 Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 (edited) I was. I stopped it and managed to restore the play state. currently watching a movie on wmc for windows, and checked items from the web browser on my phone to find that my library is empty. again! Edited March 4, 2018 by karldonteljames
karldonteljames 3 Posted March 4, 2018 Author Posted March 4, 2018 (edited) I left the library rescanning when I went to bed, I thought that maybe had to consolidate the scan with the user play state. The scan had finished when I got up this morning. but all libraries are still empty. Edited March 4, 2018 by karldonteljames
karldonteljames 3 Posted March 4, 2018 Author Posted March 4, 2018 (edited) After looking the options.xml in each of the libraries I noticed the following: <DownloadImagesInAdvance>true</DownloadImagesInAdvance> <PathInfos> <MediaPathInfo> <Path>\\server\folder</Path> </MediaPathInfo> </PathInfos> was empty.. and looked like this: <DownloadImagesInAdvance>true</DownloadImagesInAdvance> <PathInfos /> I've opened library config on each of the libraries (via the webui), and clicked the file path, and saved and it seems to have written the path the that file. I did notice that some of my library paths showed as "\\server\path\" in some situations, when I clicked the minus (to remove the path) the path stayed there but without the "\" at the end. I'm starting to wonder if there was a conflict and it was trying to pick the library paths up from two locations. Edited March 4, 2018 by karldonteljames
karldonteljames 3 Posted March 4, 2018 Author Posted March 4, 2018 Can I run this from a different location? i.e. a different drive? I changed the picture to surveillance and tunein this morning. I've just logged into the web browser, the pictures have gone, and my libraries are empty has gone again!
Luke 42077 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Ok so it sounds like you're being affected by the issue reported here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/56434-v-330-update-and-library-issue/ I just posted a 3.3.1 release. If you update to that, and then run a library scan, this won't happen anymore. Apologies for the disruption. Thanks.
karldonteljames 3 Posted March 4, 2018 Author Posted March 4, 2018 Thanks. I've checked for updates from within emby, and it showing that I am up to date. I've just tried twice to download and run the installer, but it isnt moving past "downloading emby server"
Luke 42077 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Thanks. I've checked for updates from within emby, and it showing that I am up to date. I've just tried twice to download and run the installer, but it isnt moving past "downloading emby server" It's a large download. I would just be patient and allow it to finish. Thanks.
karldonteljames 3 Posted March 4, 2018 Author Posted March 4, 2018 Thanks Luke, I'm on 200mb virgin media here. I've left it for running for about fifteen minutes now, and nothing has changed. Is there a log file that I can check the download status in please? Memory consumption for MediaBrowser.Server.Installer gets to 37,424 and sits there, with 0 CPU usage.
karldonteljames 3 Posted March 4, 2018 Author Posted March 4, 2018 Update installed. Just scanning the library.
karldonteljames 3 Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 library scan completed and second completed. all media is still present! Thanks for the fix. out of interest, what was the problem? Thanks. Karl
Luke 42077 Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 When viewing channel content with certain apps, there was an issue of library content being erroneously deleted. thanks.
