dannygp87 2 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Hello! I've configured my emby server behind a reverse proxy (traeffik) and routed it through CloudFlare to hopefully improve my peering to it. I can check that this routing is working correctly if I ping it, as it returns the IP of CloudFlare. Also, I can play my files as usual. My question is, when Emby Direct Plays, is it taking advantage of the routing through CloudFlare too? If so, how can I check it? Thanks!
Luke 42083 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 @@pir8radio may have some tips on that. From the server's standpoint it has no awareness of that.
dannygp87 2 Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 Thanks Luke, that was quick! When you use Direct Play, the protocol is HTTP? If so, it should use also be automatically routed through CloudFlare.
dannygp87 2 Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 So, for sending content outside the LAN (be it by Direct Playing/Direct Streaming/Transcoding) you always use HTTP/HTTPS protocol? Or are there any exceptions?
Luke 42083 Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Yes the core server will always just use http/https.

Yes it too goes through cloudflare, that is when connecting from an external IP to your domain name.
