Emby not saving music artist artwork and metadata into media folders

Version: 3.3.0.0

OS: Windows Server 2012 R2

I have "Save artwork and metadata into media folders" enabled for my music collection. This has been working fine up until recently. The last four artists I have added have saved the metadata to the %appdata% folder even though the option is still enabled. I have tried disabling and re-enabling "Save artwork and metadata into media folders" option and refreshing the metadata with "replace all images" checked but they still save to %appdata%. If I refresh the metadata and replace all images on an older artist it still saves to my media folder.

Please can you help?

This is by design for artists but albums will save locally.

So has the design changed recently as I have been saving my artist metadata to artist folders fine for a while now? I want all my artist metadata saved to media folders as I back them up. I started to do this after a server release lost all my metadata saved to the %appdata% folder and your advice was to save to my media folders.

Yes because it's difficult to determine whether a folder is an artist folder or just an organizational folder.

How do I now sort my artist metadata so it is all saved in one location (for backup purposes) as right now it is split between my media folders and my %appdata% folder?

You're probably best leaving it as-is for now. In the event you ever re-install emby from scratch, then what you could do is delete all the artist.nfo files in your media folders.

You could also use the portable version. If emby is install this way all the artist info is installed under metadata folder inside the emby folder. Makes backing up the entire thing a snap.
