Folder View Not Showing Folders

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello, my folder view is currently not showing folders.  For example, I'll click on "Folders", then "Movies".  But under that, it lists the movies the same way as it would if I had gone into the regular "Movies" collection.

Hi @@nnylray, it's resolved for the next release, thanks.

Edit: It might actually be two releases from now.

Ok. Good to know.  Thanks for your hard work.

For me, folder view is still there on the iphone emby app, but behaves as described above for the web client.

So, nnylray you may try other device clients for now, until the fix comes out.  I'm doing that to refresh targeted folders when needed.

I know, I should probably be moving to a flat structure, and make my folders meta data categories or something instead.  But I'm entirely too OCD not to group everything into multi-level folders!  :)

Hi everyone, please help. I want to view my files as "Folder view" What specific steps do i take to make this happen?

Posted

I would suggest waiting for the next release of emby server. Our folder view isn't perfect but it will be much improved with the next release. Thanks.

Server display settings i found. Luke, i found no folder view options. Or options to arrange the content into any views. What could i be doing wrong?

Make sure you are checking using your local web app, as the other apps are already beginning to remove the option in preparation of the next release. thanks.

Since there are two Display settings (user and server) you want Dashboard-Library-Display.

This option is removed in Beta and exists a tab per library.

Are you removing the folders view option from apps? They currently are not working for me in the Android and Xbox app. Why are you removing this feature?

We are not removing anything related to folder views. Please describe your issue in detail. Thanks.

Only thing removed was a Folders Library as each library has a folders tab now. Minus Mixed content and Home videos as they are Folders view.

Yeah i think that is exactly what my issue was. That make sense now and i actually kind of love it. It works great except for a few details:

1) The web Client doesn't appear to have a "Folders Tab" on Movies and TV Shows, but the Folders Library still works on the web client for now so it is not a problem, more of a question as to when the web client will transition to the new format.

2) The folders tab on the Mobile client does not appear to collapse movies down into collections. The Movies display within the folders as individual movies, instead of as part of their appropriate collection as the Folders Library does. I seem to recall there used to be a setting in the server that turned this feature on/off, but i'm having a hard time locating it. Can/Should the folders tab collapse movies into their appropriate collections? That would really seal the deal for me on this new feature.

I think i may have just figured out why my collections weren't collapsing .

Yeah come to find out my Server had not been updating for a while. Once i upgraded to the latest, the Folders library went away.

But now i am back to one of my original questions. Should movies within the folders view collapse into collections? Mine are not currently. I would like them to.

No we don't currently have an option for that. But why? At that point it's not really a folder view anymore.
