spacvad 0 Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 (edited) So I added a new HDD to my server yesterday (no old drives removed,) and copied some of my files across to it from my Media/Movies2 directory on a full drive to Media/Video/Movies on the new one. When the copy was completed I went into the server dashboards library page and removed Media/Movies2 from the Movies library without issue. I then went to add the Media/Video/Movies folder to the Movies library instead. Upon clicking OK I was greeted with Emby's standard 'loading' circle but it didn't stop. I tried logging out and back in to the server dashboard and into the Library page again and all it shows now is the loading circle no matter how long I leave it (see screenshot below.) However all the libraries (barring the new one I was trying to add) are accessible and content playable through the browser and various apps so Emby can obviously still connect to them. Tried restarting Emby and rebooting the machine with no joy. I wasn't sure if permissions (Ubuntu 16.04) were an issue but the Emby user is a member of the plugdev group which has full access to the new Media/Video/Movies so that should be fine and works for the other folders. Server log (post reboot) and screenshot of Library attached. EDIT: Now getting the following every time it tries to do an automated library scan: Scan media library failed - value cannot be null. Parameter name: path. Log.txt Edited February 25, 2018 by spacvad
Luke 42085 Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Strange, but you probably have a bad file somewhere under /var/lib/emby-server/root/default Go through all the .mblink files under there, and delete any if empty. Also, unrelated, but i notice you're using our legacy installation package. If you don't mind a full uninstall then reinstall you'll get better performance using our new package: https://emby.media/download Thanks.

Will a reinstall lose my watched status etc?
Luke 42085 Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 Yes but you can use backup procedures here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Backup You can also just stay as you are as we are continuing to push updates to the old package in order to avoid forcing people to switch. We are just not doing any new development on them, which means that we will ask you to switch if you're having some kind of problem that we're not sure how to resolve.
