Charater thumbnails

Why do some Actors have picture thumbnails on recorded TV shows but some do not.  Example, my recordings of "Father Knows Best" has all the cast members listed, but no picture thumbnail.  Alf, has picture thumbnails on some of the cast, but no information about the  actor/actress.

Movies, on the other hand, have thumbnail picture for most of the actors, and information about those actors.

Perhaps, I am missing some settings.

thanks.

PS. I enjoy reading about all those "bit" actors in some of those old TV shows.......   How could anyone forget Edgar Buchanan (Uncle Joe Carson) from Petticoat Junction, or Irene Ryan as granny on the Beverly Hillbillies.

Try refreshing that title to pull in internet metadata.

Haha, but a dumb question, how do I refresh the title??

Click the 3 dot menu on the detail screen, then refresh metadata.

It's worth noting that tons of actors don't have headshots in the online metadata.  Many more have just one lousy show that's low-res and in the wrong scale.

I have noticed that the actors/actresses that have parts in movies, besides TV shows, have information about the character, but if not, then there is no information about that actor/actress.

For instance, Frank Cady the general store owner on Green Acres and Petticoat Junction but no information about him.  But, IMDB has a lot of information about him.  Does your grabber use the info from that site???

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0128326/

Thanks,    But again, this may be an "old" person thing, wanting to know about the actors that I recognize.

No, IMDb is not an open data service. We use moviedb.

Ok, got it.  Did a search for Frank Cady from that website, and you are correct, no information, but his facial thumbnail is and that appears in your Emby app........

Thanks.

One more question of morality.  I can add info for the actor in question using The Movie Database you mentioned.  I am able to add the description I desire.  The moral question is>>  is it permissible to add description from the IMDb site, or just use the info from Wikipedia?

Nuther suggestion, possible to add Wikipedia link for the actor/actress on the character page?  Of course, this really does not mean anything.

I don't think we have that information.

That's a question you'd need to ask the mods of that site as their terms and conditions apply...but I'll go out on a limb and guess they don't want to deal with IMDB copyright complaints or DMCA take-down requests ;)

I looked at most of the information on the Movie Data Base site, and most if not all seems to be imported from Wikipedia.  So, I have been transferring information from Wikipedia to the MDB site for my favorite actors/actresses.  Suprisingly, a lot of the cast members do not have any information about them on that site.  For instance, most of the cast of "The Beverly Hillbillies" do not have any information, they do NOW......... .

The true test will be if that information shows up under the Emby app.......... crossing my fingers...

Of course, that means another addiction on my part......

Edit; POW, BANG (from the Batman Series), the information is NOW included in my Emby app.   That was fast.......
