jasonmcroy 316 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 I hope I am posting this in the correct forum. I usually run my server on Windows but recently moved over to openmediavault as my NAS/Server solution. I downloaded and installed the Debian version, not Docker, so that is why I thought this is the correct forum. Anyway, the server crashed earlier today. I am not sure what time and I think it was many hours later and thought perhaps it was just a fluke so I didn't post then. However, tonight while watching a recorded episode of Supergirl it crashed again while I was watching. At first I thought it was just buffering as I was watching via my Android tablet. However, I tried to access the server via the web and it wouldn't connect. I then SSHed into openmediavault and checked the status and it was not running. I then restarted the server and it started up just fine. I am on OMV 3 and stable server version 3.2.70.0. Here are the logs from that crash - there are two logs because one is from when it crashed and the next I think was created after I restarted so not sure which one you need. server-63654829042.txt server-63654838751.txt
Luke 42078 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 There's nothing obvious here, however this is our legacy installation and that makes this a bit hard to troubleshoot. You should use one of the installation packages from our website download page, either the debian .deb file, or the docker: https://emby.media/download Thanks.
jasonmcroy 316 Posted February 22, 2018 Author Posted February 22, 2018 Hmm... I thought it was the debian package. To be honest, I don't recall where I downloaded it from. Anyway, it just crashed again anyway so I need to fix something. A reinstall would probably be best then. I actually tried to install the Docker version first but it was so confusing I couldn't figure it out. I had it downloaded but couldn't figure out how to configure from the GUI in OMV so I gave up. Is there one that should be better between the deb package vs Docker?
jasonmcroy 316 Posted February 22, 2018 Author Posted February 22, 2018 I just installed the deb package so we will see how it goes. I remembered how I did it before - it was via apt-get plugin in OMV per a thread on their forums which instructed you to install the apt-get plugin then pull the deb file from opensuse. Shouldn't that be the same install file but installed in a different way?
Luke 42078 Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 No, they should update those instructions to reflect our new .deb files. 1
