isn't always good

It has been always perfect with the web app, I've tested it several times and it has never failed.

Hasn't failed for you maybe; but there are a significant number of threads in which a problem was fixed by changing "auto" to a fixed (but high) maximum quality.

One reason to ditch Auto, right?

You're being too binary.  It's not a matter of the option being good or bad; it's a good and useful option, but there are circumstances that it doesn't handle well.

That's not what I meant.

Anyway, Emby devs have a final task:

1) Fix Auto for good.

2) Fix the "Internet quality" for audio and video, both are transcoding while using local WiFi and that should not happen anymore.

Thanks.

When auto is a problem, that relates to the network appearing to be inconsistent, and thus hard to measure.  It's not just a simple matter of "fixing" auto.

Audio bit rates are so much lower that even a poor local network connection isn't going to be troubled by them, so it's not useful to have the corresponding setting.

Correct, because we're assuming that all local networks can handle even highest audio bitrates.
