Smaky 131 Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 I have a library setup for movies wich references direct attached hard disks on a 4 unit base attached to my server via USB 3. These drives are populated with specific movie types (like old movies, or particular genres) that I do not keep online all the time (I swap HDDs based on the need to store particular media), so my movie library includes several different paths into it (namely w: x: y: z:, etc.) I have noticed emby would skip whatever drive is offline at the time the server starts up, and will continue scanning other drives that may be on-line at the time. My question is: * How does emby treat the fact that I can swap a drive while the server is online. Windows itself detects the drive change and mounts the drive to whatever drive letter I have assigned to it. Would that be picked up by emby so the new drive gets scanned? * Notices emby would not mark any media that is currently off-line while browsing the library (I do remember that quite some time ago, media that was not present would show an off-line marker). It's been some time I do not see such markers. This is particularly troublesome for the users who would try to watch some media and would end up with a playback error (no real message related to the fact the media is off-line). Was this off-line detection and marking was removed from the server?
Luke 42085 Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 The server probably won't pick up the drive change so you would just have to run a scan. Indicators are something we can restore for a future update.

Smaky 131 Posted February 21, 2018 Author Posted February 21, 2018 I would really like to see those coming back... it is really a usability improvement as users would know that the media is not available. The server probably won't pick up the drive change so you would just have to run a scan. Indicators are something we can restore for a future update.
