Emby for Kodi stopped playing content

I am new to Emby and configured Emby for Kodi on my Nvidia Shields (own 3). They were working great and playing movies with out issue. In the past few days, I can not get the Emby plugin to play any of the movies. I have verified that they play fine in the Emby apps as well as the Emby web interface. Here are the details:

Kodi Version: 17.6

Emby for Kodi version: 3.0.11a

Emby Server Version: 3.2.70.0

I have attached both the info and debug log.

Are you using an external player? From your log, seems the issue is not with the add-on. Do you have trouble transcoding with your server?

I'm not using an external player that I know of. Kodi is installed on the Nvidia Shield and emby server in a Linux container running Ubuntu. There should be no need to transcode as the Nvidia Shield should be able to direct stream the video.

The odd thing is that I can play some content and others I can't. I found this out by going through the library. The emby app has no issues playing any of the videos. Only Kodi with the emby plugin.

Is there anything I can check or try?

Ok, thanks. Yeah it is direct streaming. I'd say, create a new test and check your server log from the same time. Kodi got the file url correctly and initiated onPlay as it should. But that's as far as it went. So hopefully your server log will give us a bit more info on what happened.

I'll pull the server logs as soon as I can and post them.

Thanks again,

Here is the Emby Server log when I was trying to play Jupiter Ascending when the Kodi logs were taken. The time in the log is 22:18 (UTC) which matches to the Kodi log at 16:18 (EST).

Does something seem strange in the log? Direct playing (http) is not working for him. I'm seeing response 500.

Well it's only a log snippet but 500 usually just means the player disconnected so you'll probably want to see what happened clientside

Sorry everyone I've been busy all week. I will try and get more logs in the next day or two. What is odd is that it plays some content and not others. In noticed the 500 errors as well and not sure of that is normal. Doing a search, others reported the same issue in their logs, but nothing that was related to my issue.

I may spin up another container and reinstall emby to see if it's something with my installation.

So I had some time to play with the issue. As a test I installed Kodi on my laptop and configured it the way way I have with kodi on the Nvidia Shields. I got the same issue, where I could only play certain movies. I then proceeded to change the way I mounted the content in the linux container that emby is installed in. Originally I had the content mounted via cifgs / smb mounts. I changed those over to using the directory (emby container and content are on the same server). I also noticed that there was a new version of emby 3.3.0. I also upgraded emby to the newer version. Once all was done, I fired up Kodi on the Nvidia Shield and I was able to play all of my content without issue.

Not sure if upgrading emby to version 3.3.0 fixed the issue or having the content mounted directly via folder in the linux container vs a cif/smb share fixed the issue. If I get more time, I will remount the content as a cif/smb and see if the issue comes back. As of right now, I am happy that all is working.
