direct play cache at remote location

I have two users of my emby server outside my network that have rather slow internet access.

I'm wondering - if I were to give them NAS appliance or similar device and put a copy (or a portion of) my library on it at their location, would emby attempt to direct play a file from the network path first before defaulting back to streaming from the main location, or would it automatically stream by virtue of the fact that the users are connecting from outside the network?

For example, main collection of movies is stored at \\SERVER\Movies\ at location 1.

User at location 2 logs in to emby through web interface as normal, and would normally have to stream file from location 1.

Location 2 gets a NAS device with a hard drive which has a copy of \Movies and its share is configured as \\SERVER\Movies.  So at location 2, navigating to \\SERVER\Movies will show similar to what you'd see if you navigated to the same path at location 1.

Would a play request from emby at location 2 try to direct play using the \\SERVER path?

Hi, we don't have this in the web app but they could use the download feature in the Android app or windows store app.

Unfortunately they are both iPhone/Roku users.  They do have one of my old HTPCs with emby theater on it, but its not the windows store app and the box only has windows 7 on it to be able to use WMC.
