tamalero 0 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 (edited) Hello Guys! I have an issue regarding Emby that started to happen AFTER I migrated my older 3TB hard disks to 4TB extended disks. I copied as is the data from the 3tb disks to the 4tb disks and then removed the older disks. Then after updating Emby, the TV folder is detected incorrectly. I have it as follows (which worked fine before the emby update). d:\series is my TV shows directory Then it is divided into subsections d:\series\animated (for animee, animations, etc..) d:\series\sci-fi (self explanatory) and so on. Before, Emby detected these as separated directories as "directories" and arranged the TV shows correctly based on the content inside these subdirectories. Now with the latest update. Emby detects every of these category directories as a "tv show" and every subdirectory as a "season". Example, animated directory is now detected as "merry melodies". And not as a separation directory. How can I fix this? Was this related to the Emby update? (I went from 3.2.50 to 3.2.70 if I remember correctly). The movies folder seem to be working normally. Guest asrequested Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 (edited) What do you have your libraries type, set to? https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Library%20Setup Edited February 19, 2018 by Doofus
Happy2Play 9782 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Since you added sub-folders/sub-sections you will have to manually edit the system.xml, https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/39202-help-with-complex-folder-structure/?p=367771

Going to check that link asap. *edit* Just noticed that I have no restart button in Emby's dashboard too. Edited February 19, 2018 by tamalero
Happy2Play 9782 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 No not that I am aware of, minus the option being in the UI a long time ago.
tamalero 0 Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 No not that I am aware of, minus the option being in the UI a long time ago. Can I suggest that in the next emby version, they should add the "unset" in the metadata backend of the emby server interface? Because finding the file, editing and then expecting it to work seems cumbersome. PS, I just did what you suggested, added my directories as unset in the system.xml file, and its not working ( I restarted emby) Do I need to delete the metadata files from these directories?
Guest asrequested Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 TV Shows obviously. Hey! Just tryin' to help. Jeez! I'll be sure not to make that mistake, again.
tamalero 0 Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 (edited) Hey! Just tryin' to help. Jeez! I'll be sure not to make that mistake, again. Not to be rude dude, but.. if you read my post asking for help.. there is this part that says d:\series is my TV shows directory Then it is divided into subsections d:\series\animated (for animee, animations, etc..) d:\series\sci-fi (self explanatory) and so on. Also, I'm not angry at anything. So please no drama. I'm just stumped about this issue that had not happened in the prior version of Emby. Now I'm wondering if I made a mistake by updating. Anyway, Since the Mod's technique isn't working (still detects folders as series instead of as unset) I decided to do the dirty way, and add the individual directories of each TV series genres. I hope it work this time. Edited February 19, 2018 by tamalero
Happy2Play 9782 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 (edited) Just performed the steps and it does work, So I would have to ask what exact steps did you do? Shut down server edit system.xml start server perform library scan done Edited February 19, 2018 by Happy2Play

Shut down server edit system.xml start server perform library scan done Did that but tested before doing a full library scan. anyway I think the workaround works. (aka add manually every subdirectory instead the main directory). It seems to be processing the series correctly now. How you name your folders isn't the same as how you configure the library I'm unsure if you're reading what its being quoted or written in here my friend. I bolded the part where it says "TV SHOWS". Because it has been set s TV shows from the start.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 (edited) If you have a Emby unset/mixed library the option appears. So movies and series in same folder, then have your genre folder you have a option to change content of genre folder to "Shows". Which is the same as the manual edit. Yes this works as Emby does not have to guess with the additional sub-folder structure. Edited February 19, 2018 by Happy2Play
tamalero 0 Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 Yes this works as Emby does not have to guess with the additional sub-folder structure. Thanks Happy2play! I hope the programmers can add the "unset" or "empty directory" option in the metadata (both backend and frontend editing) to make things easier in future builds. Def would make things way easier. If you have a Emby unset/mixed library the option appears. So movies and series in same folder, then have your genre folder you have a option to change content of genre folder to "Shows". Which is the same as the manual edit. Content on this area is only TV series and shows. So no problemo with the movies being thrown into the mix.

tamalero 0 Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 Yup! I'm stupid. Sorry. I'm done! If you want to call yourself that, Thats on you. Because I'm not the one causing fuzz here. I appreciate your desire to help.
Luke 42080 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Thanks Happy2play! Content on this area is only TV series and shows. So no problemo with the movies being thrown into the mix. I took it out because it created an unforeseen problem which is users changing content types on folders when it wasn't necessary, and then having to deal with all of the troubleshooting caused by that. So I think we need a new strategy.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 This really is only a issue for libraries that are setup as content type TV. Which requires manual intervention for sub-folder in set library. If "Unset" is used as library type I didn't have a issue in my test library, but my conditions could be different in total library layout. And you get content type selector at folder level in "Unset",

It shows thumbnails of its content but shows the name of the folder only. *edit* Or an option to "ignore empty directories". Edited February 19, 2018 by tamalero
