efigalaxie 2 Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Emby Server - 2nd or 3rd gen quad core i7 16gb memory, Win10 pro 4600 movies bunch of tv on 6 NAS boxes with smb links All interfaces/clients local and remote - thumbnail paint is slow. Clicking letters is kludgy. Trust me - no issues with the network. Cisco switches all gigabit Ethernet, I have configured them properly. Is the machine too weak to handle such a library? I have a r210 with 24gb of memory and a r710 with 48gb - should I migrate to one of those? If I go to Linux, which flavor do you suggest? I want this thing to run as smooth as Kodi. My navigation with Kodi on an Nvidia shield is very smooth.
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 is your library and/or metadata folder on a HDD?
efigalaxie 2 Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 Yes. On the Emby server machine. A ssd actually.
Luke 42085 Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Hi there. Please discuss an example and attach the information requested in how to report a problem: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
efigalaxie 2 Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 I installed the latest Emby over top my existing install. That helped.....quite a bit. The question remains.....when I pull up my library using a client, it still isn’t as snappy as I would like. Will throwing more memory or more cpu at it help? What type of server install tends to be most responsive as perceived from a client side perspective? I am trying to get a very large library to be as responsive on an Emby Client as it is on a local Kodi machine. .....thumbnails for items are up almost instantly no matter the scroll rate...... I am using the Android TV client and the Xbox client. If this is not realistic at this time tell me. If I need to move the server to another platform, tell me. Just this latest update improved it by a factor of three or so. It is a stock install. It is working fine....just wanting to speed up navigation.
