Renaming Media Files Best Practice

I thinking about renaming all of my episode movie filenames to include video format (i.e. 720P Bluray x264).  I experimented with one series and everything went fine.  Emby picked up the change and began renaming the nfo and thumbnail files to match.  

 

My question is, am I better off shutting down Emby, renaming everything, starting Emby and letting it go to work?  Or am I ok just letting Emby run while making tousands of changes?

Either should be fine, but if we're talking that many changes, you might as well keep it simple by shutting down emby, then running a library scan when you're done.
