Turning off media folders

in an explanation of the purpose of folders I got the impression that you could 'turn off' the folders icon

like so... (by unchecking the box next to folders -- imagine that only movies and tv shows have check marks below)

Home Screen Content

Allow items to appear on my home screen from:

(x) Movies
(x) TV Shows
(  ) Folders

but it doesn't do anything for me.  I tested it in the Android App and the web interface (and the emby theatre for Linux alpha)

I can't really read that screenshot so I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do but try restarting those apps.

Restarting did not affect anything.  You must have seen it before I edited (the "screenshot").

Anyway, I was trying to stop the 'Folders' option from appearing under 'My Media'

Folders view is a global setting not a user setting. Dashboard-Library-Display-Display a folder view to show plain media folders

This is a little deceiving, it only applies to the Latest Media of Home Screen not My Media.

Latest media, resume, next up.

If you take it away from my media then there would be no way to reach it

I think maybe what you are looking for is in the dashboard Library->Display->Display a Folders view
