Library not refreshing in on folder

Recommended Posts

Folder on network share : \\file-server\tv_shows

All shows contained are there.

Show 1\Season 1,

Show 1\Season 2,

Show 2\Season 1 ...etc..

Added new series (show 8\season 1), and Emby will not see the new folder .
Files are of same type. Nothing different.

Tried to manually refresh the library, but still wont see the new folder.

Advice anyone?

Hi, have you tried running the regular library scan? Try that, and if the issue remains, then please show us screenshots of what you see in Emby as well as what the series folder on your drive looks like. Thanks.

Tried scanning only the library, and whole library.... no update...

assuming there is nothing odd with the contents of the Season 1 folder

on TVDB there are multiple results for "The Defenders"

i suspect you mean "Marvel's The Defenders" based on the rest of the TV_Shows directory content

so you could either use the identify option or rename the series folder to give emby a better idea which series you have

Thanks for the Tip, Penketh Boy. I can do, but that wouldn't stop it from reading the directory and it's entries. It would stop the metadata information following your tip.  I have no qualms about doing it but don't think that the issue.

Here is the folder info as you requested ....
Nothing special, pretty standard...

i think you misunderstood - changing the directory name so emby can choose the correct series to search for - would improve the likelihood of a correct match

this would have no effect on the metadata - other than give it a chance to download

yes and rename your series as happy pointed out.

You will probably have to post a log after a library scan, as I added The Defenders using your naming and structure and the series was identified and the episodes weren't as expected.

The episodes were or weren't displaying as expected?

They displayed but were unidentified.

Ok yes that naming convention is not supported.

I renamed the directory as suggested, but the scan still wouldn't pick up the folder...

I'm going to force another scan and review the logs...

So why does emby care about the filename? I've used it in other directories with no problem ( except for nested directories...)

How would I save the filenames and be able to keep them in proper order?

@@bflagg we care about the file name because that's how we determine the episode number of the video. If we can't determine that then you won't get any internet metadata.

Ok... so I look through the logs, and there is "Access Denied" Everywhere, to all Libraries.
I can access these shares using simple windows explorer with no problem. I can read/write no problem.
Emby will not access.  So I delete the built libraries(all, movies, music, pictures etc...) in Emby.

I try add them back and they can not see the \\server\share using the emby UI to add to library.

I can still access using windows (7 x64 ) just fine.
I can access using IP\share and NetBIOS\Share and FQDN\Share (all internal of course). But with Emby...nope.

So this is sudden.

Ideas?

Example: Windows can see... Emby cannot. (it used to, hence the original library build. Nothing changed but Emby) I am at a total loss what to do next.

If I click on OK in emby.. "Path cannot be found" error. (same error if using IP or FDQN)

Yeah.. that makes sense. So how would I know from a OS File point of view know which is first?

  • update.

The server is visible in network from explorer, but in emby clicking on network, it will not see the server broadcast...

It only sees the local PC (mediacenter) and that's it.

What browser? I believe this may be a issue in IE11 as development is not really tested in this browser.

Computer browser ( explorer , not a web browser....)

If you are not seeing your share you will need to look at permissions.  Are you running Emby as a Service or App (tray icon)?

He meant from which browser were you accessing the Emby dashboard to add the folder?

Now..for some reason, I can see the other computers on my network with EMBY browse, but as soon as I select a shared folder, the field goes blank and will not retain on what I select
ie...
\\Server-dc02

DVD

and can not drill down to Movies in the DVD Folder. (\\server\share\folder

Nor will is save when I select just use DVD. Or TV_Shows, Music, Pictures, Videos . Nothing.
Even if I type the paths.. I get "path not found" error.

Can I download earlier version of media browser server?

To be honest, as you can tell from my original screen shots, this use to work, and nothing changed on my home network.
But it's one of those, you set and forget about it, and wasn't aware of the library not updating for some time.

The last I actually looked at this and set the libraries was back in December.

I installed firefox incase it was a browser issue, but that made no difference.

Probably because although it can see the share, it doesn't have access to it, so it's being denied when you try to browse into it.

Please let us know if this helps. @@bflagg if you attach the emby server log from the time you attempted this then i can verify that for you.
