Not creating transcoding files all of a sudden...

Debian 9.3

Latest stand alone install package (Version 3.2.70.0)

All of a sudden I'm not transcoding. The logs show it's started, the ffmpeg logs (ffmpeg-*.txt) show it started, htop shows me ffmpeg is running doing the transcode, but no files are being created. the ffmpeg logs and emby logs show no errors. No files are being created in the temp-transcode dir. However if I delete the dir it gets recreated. I even tried clearing out my custom location and allowing it to transcode in the default location. File permissions are correct.

Both ffmpeg logs and the running ffmpeg task show me where it's  trying to creat the file, but the file isn't there.

Transcoding never stops once started. Found one had been running 57 hours. I've testing it again, and a 24 minute show was transcoding for 30+ mins. Uses 100% CPU, but never creates files, ffmpeg never stops unless I restart the server. Same episodes transcoded fine a few days ago.

Nothing in my server logs.

Nothing has changed since the one that had been running 57 hours was started. I did do a apt-get update since the show I'm currently trying to transcode worked, but all it really updated was mono. And since I'm using stand alone that shouldn't have any effect on this.

HELP! Any ideas??

ok, so I'm re-watching Cowboy Bebop, I was 6 mins into episode 19. I tried resume and it hangs with the loading bar at about 30% and stops. I watched this episode and the 18 prior episodes about 2 days ago now, and they were fine. I've tried paying from the beginning with same result. I've also tried other episodes that I watched the other day, all hang.

It's only transcoding due to unsupported subtitle codec from what the logs say. The weird part, when this started, nothing has changed with Emby since it was working. I've not updated anything. I've restarted Emby (only way to kill that ffmpeg instance. It will run forever once started unless I reboot the server) and restarted my server. I deleted the transcoding-temp dir  and watched it be recreated when transcoding starts. Permissions are fine, owner and group are emby user. Owner and group are rwx.

New info since my first post. It seems to just be THESE files. One of my users transcoded a movie today with no problems. That transcoding reason was max bit rate was too high. I searched through my movies till I found another file that needed transcoding just now, and it worked fine. So I was mistaken, transcoding is working, just not for these files that played fine the other day.

File info from Emby:

I've attached the server log and ffmpeg logs for this event.

The only things that have changed since I could last play these files are mpv, libtasn1-6, and mono took upgrades (verified in logs) but since I'm running the stand alone server mono should have no effect on my Emby. I can imagine no reason for these files to cease transcoding. The files play fine on Emby through Chrome (directly accessing my server) but Chrome doesn't try and transcode them. Roku does.

hi @@doonze, does this happen if you play something on Roku without subtitles? thanks !

At this time I can't verify for sure, but I can confirm the few files I know that have this issue all have embedded ASS subs. the 3 or 4 files that have transcoded and hung have all had those types of subs. I'll try some more when I'm where I can test. (If I can find any)

It's weird it worked fine, then just stopped. I'll check for the last time my Roku updated.

When was the last update to the official app? I think your on to something here.

Here is what I've discovered so far. The same files that hang on Roku play fine in both chrome browser and android emby app. It doesn't transcode in chrome, it DOES transcode in the android app.

So the issue seems to be something that changed in the last 72 hours (for me) on Roku or Emby Roku app. I've only found one movie and two series I have that use ASS subtitles codec, but all those files hang on Roku only.

@@Luke, do you want me to move this over to the Roku section?

So all of a sudden it's working again, just as out of the blue as it started. No restart of emby server, no restart of my server. No update to Roku. So unless the Emby app was updated, I have no idea why it just automagicly started working again. But it seems to be fine now.
