Have NEW issue with emby server

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Ok Guys -

Yesterday my emby server was stuck on version 3.2.36 - on the dashboard, it was saying "need to restart" in order to finish installing version 3.2.70. Well, I followed the instructions to manually download it from the website, unzipped it, found the embyserver.exe file and double clicked it. I then went through setting up emby server again with the help of Luke and ebr from my prior thread (see here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55846-having-some-issues-hope-you-can-help/). I managed to get it back to almost being identical on version 3.2.36.

Fast forward to today.............I lost power to my computer due to breaker tripping. No biggie, flipped said breaker back to "on", rebooted my HTPC w/ emby server on it as well as my media library. Clicked on emby server to get it back up and WHAMO! I am now back to version 3.2.36 on the dashboard and its like nothing happened yesterday to get me past the "restart" issue for version 3.2.36..........feels like I went down a rabbit hole here...............

What do I now?

Did you manual extract the zip replacing the existing system folder?  As there should be no way .36 would exist anymore if you did.

Are you sure Emby is launching as the same user?

As for fixing the issue reinstalling via the Download page should overwrite .36.

To me this sounds like you did a new portable install.

Yeah, I followed these instructions......

Portable Installation

- Download and unzip one of the following zip files depending on system architecture:

Windows x64

Windows x86

- Run EmbyServer.exe from within the System sub-folder

- Run the Emby Server setup wizard by visiting http://localhost:8096

So basically I now have 2 instances of emby server on my computer?

And I should have just unzipped that file and just "copied" the system folder and replaced the existing system folder for v3.2.36?

Hi there, apologies for the disruption.

We mentioned this in our release announcement that it would require manual update for this one release:

Thanks.

Luke, thanks for quick reply here. I did follow that link and tried doing that but I was getting an error message every time. I could only download the zip file for 64bit. Ran installation from there following the instructions from the website.

You need to decide which install you want to use.  Since everything was already setup in your original install I would delete the portable.

Since you have a install already, replace the system folder in your original install with the one from zip.  Or just reinstall from the Download page.

I don't remember now (should have take a picture of it). I do not have access to that PC at the moment. I will have to post back after I have gotten back to that point so as to duplicate what I was seeing yesterday.
