Android TV - Please add sort by "Premier Date" in ascending order

On Emby web app (see screenshot) and Android app (see screenshot), sorting titles by "Premiere Date" sorts them in ascending order only but on Android TV app (see screenshot), it sorts them in descending order only.

The idea is to match the same behavior in every app or add the one missing to have both options.

Thank you.

It works for movies, right?

I think this is a long-standing problem with sorting Series.  The app is requesting a descending sort for these.

No sir, it doesn't work for movies either, it doesn't even work with a custom movie section I made, called "Concerts".

Can you please confirm that?

It is working fine for me for movies:

This is the movies section, I only have two movies so far but it's enough to confirm, see the attached screenshot:

The Fifth Element movie was released in 1997 and the Matrix movie was released in 1999, that means the Fifth Element should be at the left as the first movie on the list if I select "premier date" to sort Z-A but it's doing the opposite.

Um, no, if the sort is Premiere Date Descending then The Matrix (1999) would show before The Fifth Element (1997)...

Descending:

1999

1997

Ascending:

1997

1999

Emby for android TV is sorting only descending.

Emby for android and plex web is sorting only ascending.

Yes, but it's not sorting descending but ascending,

The sort is descending:  1999, 1997

Please, review quote # 9, I edited the info.

Hi. In order to keep it simple when selecting options with a remote control, the TV apps limit these choices right now.  In 95%+ of cases, when sorting by dates, people want them descending so that is what the app currently does.  We may add the ability to configure this in the future but want to limit the complexity with a remote.

The web app, however, I do believe allows you to select either ascending or descending.

So, the net of this topic is that the app has been sorting correctly by descending in the movie area all along, correct?

Understood, I hope you add the ascending order setting in the future, to me there is nothing else than to wait.

Yes, it does:

No, the net topic was the app doesn't sort by ascending order but since you explained above the majority of people prefer it that way there is nothing I can do to make you change it, in the end it's up to you to add it in the future.

Thanks.

There is actually an issue when it comes to TV Series as they don't really sort in the order you would expect I don't think.  I think they sort in the order the actual Series was added as opposed to when the last item was added.

I don't understand, are you saying that if I sort the series by premier date, they are not sorted by the real release date but the last date added?

No.

Premiere date should work fine as should Data Added.

However, the dates will be that of the Series, not the episodes within them.  i.e. The date you added the Series to your system or the date the Series first premiered.

I've always understand premier date as the date when the series was released and that's how I see them in the surface, I haven't verify if they were really added that way.

Thank you for adding sorting by "premier date" in ascending order inside beta 1.7.61 as I requested:
