Yeah... I created an acct over at fresco to see if they can answer how to go from outside in...

 

what is confusing (and like said before I mean nothing rude.... )..

Plex - I had to do nothing special. it works updating library, reading the \\whs\videos location from inside the virtual network to the physical box on my main network and back.

So if Emby is pretty much the same... then it should work.. unless it is different then it could be an issue.

 

I need (well don't really "Need") to figure out how to talk from my normal network over to my virtual anyway so figure let me see if freesco can help first.. then come back to this...

 

else I am replacing my plex machine (i7-2600) with an i7-6700, which should be in place this week. That will free up the physical older box for me to install Emby and play.

 

I am cutting the cord (sorta)....

I have Comcast and am on a promotion @ $165/m and includes

HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, Stars, Sports pack, 200mb blast (I actually get 278mb down and 12mb up)

but goes to $325 in June (yes I can cut it back etc, )

 

I am out of contract and can stop at anytime. My dilemma is my wife... aint that most of our's HAH...

the channels she  "requires", and you line them up with the channel layout packages from Comcast... they strategically figured out how to screw you, I mean get you to pay more than you want for a higher service...

 

she needs (I'm not gonna go look so this isn't exact.. just an example)

Hallmark - in 70 channel package

Hallmark movies and mysteries - in 140 channel package

hgtv, food tv, etc... - in 140 channel package

 

the one that screws me is this one..

Country Music Television (CMT) - shows like.. Housewives of I DONT GIVE A DAYUM!!!! - in 220 channel package...

 

well that one channel ALMOST forces me to their highest tier.

 

so due to that I got a HD Homerun Prime and use NextPVR and love it...

 

I even bought the new HD Homerun Connect Quatro card and a HD Antenna for live tv OTA as it is just so much more crisp and cleaner...

 

so now I switched to AT&T for cell phones and have the unlimited plan (was going to cut my sprint bill down from $220/m to $120/m but no wife added a cell and att is $260/m ughhhhh)

BUT with that..

we can get DirectTV Now for only $20/m and it has EVERY channel my wife wants.. plus channels I do watch but I'm getting off of tv.

 

looks like this week I will be calling Comcast and dropping to 25mb service ($60ish with taxes) plus the DTV Now ($20 plus taxes??)

and we will stream this stuff..

 

I am evaluating Emby and since Live tv does not need a paid subscription, it got me to start testing inside a vm first as I don't have a physical box at the moment...

 

so that is a lot but thought I would let you in my head for a bit.. hah.. scary.. I know..

 

 

now once this "Net Neutrality" kicks in and Comcast starts charging tiered for streaming by the Gigs... I can then show my wife,.... we cut Comcast tv.. lets cut direct tv now and go just OTA.. most of our shows are on it anyway...

 

so more to come...
