TeleFragger 3 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Ok new user here and testing this out in my testlab environment. It is ESXI 6 and on win10. all is good except when I go to load the library. It asks for where.. but if I choose \\name also tried \\ipaddress it doesn't find it, if I choose Z: (which I mapped) it doesn't find it. I know you most likely want logs.. where are they? like said I'm NEEEEEWWW!!! hah.. appreciate the help..
dansblackcat 37 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 (edited) Click in the address bar after the word "Action" and copy the link. Then I just paste into "folder", not (Optional) Shared... Edited February 8, 2018 by dansblackcat
TeleFragger 3 Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 So I am sorry I'm not following.. I placed Z:\Action into folder .. didn't gave an error that it cant find that location so I tried network and same..
kanipek 230 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 (edited) Where is the Emby server located in relation to the library you are trying to access? Same machine? Things I would check are folder sharing, share permissions. SMB installed on the WHS? Verify the paths. Also Emby will sometimes have an issue finding the folders unless you do a paste as @@dansblackcat mentioned above. Other than that yeah logs --> C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\logs Also best to use the folder path for "folder;" and use the IP path in the "optional shared folder:" Edited February 8, 2018 by kanipek

Other than that yeah logs --> C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\logs Also best to use the folder path for "folder;" and use the IP path in the "optional shared folder:" so Emby is on a VM in a test lab environment that is fully working ... and share is on other network. so basically 10.66.10.0 (255.255.0.0) is where WHS is and emby is on 10.10.0.0 (255.255.0.0) ill check logs... I also run a plex server and just set it up right now in the test lab as well... and it had no issues finding the folders .. not comparing at all.. just not sure how different emby is as I have hd homerun prime and hd homerun connect quatro I want to connec to emby to test.. cant stand the plex tv layout. so use folder path in folder.. so my share is \\whs\videos\Action ... so with that put... \videos\action and ip in optional? trying now

TeleFragger 3 Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 didnt know you could just skip through and not do library. did that for now. but will try what you just said! thx!!! appreciate it... 1

I actually find it best to skip adding the library folders, until I have set up the rest, including the metadata setup/config. 1
kanipek 230 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 (edited) still no go... Can these two machines see each other? Like a shared folder through windows explorer? (both directions win 10<-->WHS) Edited February 8, 2018 by kanipek
TeleFragger 3 Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 very first screenshot shows explorer window up with Z: so yes... that is what is confusing...

kanipek 230 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 So you can see shares from Win 10 on the WHS? I see it from win 10 to WHS in the SS. Windows 10 IP is 10.1.1.4 WHS? 10.66.1.230 or 10.66.10.230? 1
TeleFragger 3 Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 @@TeleFragger you may want to edit the image you posted as it containers your WAN Address. done... thx didn't think of that.. not that I care too much.. but a hacker will hack I guess LOL

kanipek 230 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 no... I cant.. I can see it 1 way.. not the other... possibly my issue? Probably related. But I see you adding 10.66.1.230 is that correct ? Also see you saying WHS is 10.66.10.xxx ?

Also see you saying WHS is 10.66.10.xxx ? so Windows 10 machine - hostname Emby - IP 10.10.1.4 Windows Server 2016 file share - Hostname WHS - IP 10.66.1.230 in above pics.. I do have a drive mapped.. from "Emby" to \\whs\videos Tried adding Z:\action, tried adding \\10.66.1.230\videos\action and neither come back as seen... but on Emby I can map drives and in explorer see that "whs (or 10.66.1.230)" shares...

So win 10 VM and WHS ? CRAP how did I miss that!!! so another ummm yeah gotcha... LOL.. my vm lab is running its own AD/DNS/DHCP.. and domain TestLab.local my normal umm doesn't run that... it runs its own stuff.. so I just added some share permissions to see if that will do it. for a test everyone read/write... 1
TeleFragger 3 Posted February 8, 2018 Author Posted February 8, 2018 (edited) no didnt do it.. i can even create a folder from the win10 machine. ok goin to bed. no worries. I may just take my intel nuc i3 and throw win10 on it and put it as a physical on my real lan cuz I'm stoked to try emby... and fyi ive been at this for some time... OTA, cable cards, hd homerun, Hauppauge, nextpvr, mcebuddy, plex, etc... check it out. https://www.youtube.com/c/jeffreyriggs Edited February 8, 2018 by TeleFragger
Guest asrequested Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 no win10 is vm and whs is physical but 2 diff networks.. connected via freesco router.. just did that today.. LOL If you're connecting two networks through a router, then you'll need to let the emby server get through the router firewall. Also, make sure all your firewalls are letting emby, through.
