On the fly MKV TV recording conversion fast forward

The option to convert on the fly the TV recording to MKV is great because once recorded, they can be "direct played" so this is very responsive.

 

But when the recording is still in progress this is only possible to watch from the beginning, there are no buttons to navigate (see picture) and when using the remote forward button the video starts again from the beginning.

 

I imagine this is the normal behaviour for this type of MKV ? can it be enhanced so it is possible to navigate while recording is still in progress ? or to convert to MKV when the recording is complete ?

 

Watching a video while not fully recording is something enjoyable when you want to start later than the show beginning (or want to fast forward the adds)

Hi, this is normal. If you want to play and seek while in progress, you will need to disable the on the fly conversion feature.

One compromise could be to convert after the show has beén fully recorded as a 3rd option, but it would be problematic because the file has to be released for the conversion and it wouldn’t be the case if it is watched in timeshifting.

Seeking with the setting turned on is just never going to happen. In fact as soon as we have a feature to convert after the recording we're going to just drop the on the fly setting anyway because it's unrealistic to keep that while still trying to support all expected features.
