Offline DVD's

Abobader, are you using the .disc extension or some other method to identify them as offline. Then how do you tell CA to use the offline treatment?

Good day Johnny,

I have main top folder (category) for offline, all these titles have dummy text file in them "something.avi as example", then I create new profile at CA for it:

The new "disc" now it great, sine the server will know that "offline" title, I am testing these at the moment.

Thanks. I can really fine a use for this feature but want the offline movies emphasized with a cover.

Let us know what the CA setup looks like with the disc feature.

Good day,

Same thing regarding CA treatment for "offline" cover, now, the server will not allow direct play for ".disc" titles.

As Abo said, it won't be any different with the new .disc files.

The key to getting CA to do this for you is that you physically separate your offline items into a directory branch for which you can create a new CA profile.

e.g.

\\server\share\normal movies

\\server\share\offline movies

That is what I was intending to do using 4 shares to correspond to it's library like Oscars-Offline to go with Oscars. Are you going to update a cover or overlay to go into Cover Art to highlight the offline movies?? I sure hope so.

There is already an "Offline" cover in many of the treatment styles.  But, as Abo said, in order to use it you need a special profile and to then map all items to use that cover.

I will look into supporting this new .disc type to use the offline cover automatically but it won't happen right away.

I am thinking of a custom overlay(s) or cover, for me I would like to be able to include offline (well online really) TV or Movies that are available from another source such as Netflix and indicate the user should go there to watch that item.

Right now I have maybe the first few seasons of a show thats locally available media ripped from DVD etc (before I subscribed), say season 1 and 2, but then 3 and 4 are available online so there does not seem point in having local media (bandwidth is a premium here). Then the current season (season 5) which is not available on Netflix I have the media files local. Maybe this would be better hooked into the missing episodes feature thats already there in MB3, but be able to show an alternate method of watching?
