Live TV with multiple Tuner Types

My current setup is an Emby server and an HTPC (WMC on Windows 7 x64) with 4 tuners (Ceton InfiniTV 4 PCI) running ServerWMC and receiving guide data from schedules direct due to all of Media Centers guide data issues. Due to some reliability issues that I am trying to overcome, I am getting ready to purchase an HDHR Prime 3 Tuner Cable card tuner.

I am not sure how best integrate these new tuners into my setup. Ideally, I would like to make use of all of the tuners. I know that I can just add the tuners to WMC, but I was thinking that this might be a good time to start transitioning to using Emby's native Live TV\DVR features. So this brings me to a few questions:

  1. Is there a way to import the schedule recordings from WMC so I don't have to find and reschedule everything again
  2. Can I have both the ServerWMC and Emby Live TV in use at the same time or would that cause potential duplicate recordings?
  3. If I configure Emby with my Schedules Direct subscription would the guide still be streamed\sync'd from ServerWMC or would it be from the direct data that it has
  4. Is it possible to have ServerWMC continue to do all of the scheduled recordings but have the HDHR provide the turners for watching live TV

Thanks in advance for any advice\help you can give,

1: I going to have to say NO

2: Yes you can have both going and you will end with duplicate recording if they both are schedule and recording the same show

3: They be there own data download

4: As long you use Emby with the HDHR

Unless something has changed, I believe that WMC had a support cap of four (4) tuners. You can have more tuners in your setup accessible via other programs, but WMC will scan and only recognize the first four (4) tuners it identifies.

There is a settings that extends the 4 tuner limit up to 256, so that isn't a limitation

  1. That's what I thought, I figured I'd check
  2. At least this will give me a way of transitioning from one to the other. As I create on one I can delete on the other
  3. Thats what I thought
  4. Understood.

So right now my thought is that I will setup schedules direct inside of emby for guide data and configure the HDHR Prime with emby.  Since ServerWMC will still be connected, when I go to the guide and schedule a show, what will record Emby or ServerWMC?

Both will still be independent from each other with the TV guide and schedule all recording so need pick just one and stick with

In long run you better off with Emby even if there are some down side which why I want get Analog recording and IR blaster support that way we just get one reg STB and used something like HD-PVR to record those channel that are being block with reg Cable STB

Have you check and see if your cable channel has open or block channel keep in mind there something that WMC can do that all other 3rdparty app can't do like tune to DRM channels HBO Showtime and etc.

Try test it with NextPVR or SageTV with your Ceton InfiniTV before get a HDHomeRun Prime.

Has Emby been able to work a DRM license? I have Spectrum and they DRM every cable channel as 'copy once' except the 5 local stations. Because of this I have not been able to transition from WMC on Windows 7.
