Scan keeps skipping files

I like to use Emby to view trailers and I have had this problem for a while, got frustrated and quit using it until I started having problems with something else. I just downloaded some of the trailers from the Super Bowl and I got the Mission Impossible spot from the game and the full trailer. But the library scan only gets one of them. It just does this randomly for some. Is there a way for me manually add the ones its skipping.

I hope the pics came out ok and you can see them I don't really know how to screenshot the folder. Like i said 95% of everything is perfect but every now and then it ignores some files.post-247963-0-08151000-1517897711_thumb.jpgpost-247963-0-98605200-1517897729_thumb.jpg

... I don't really know how to screenshot the folder...

Use the Snipping Tool built into Windows since Windows 7. Press the Windows key, type 'snip' and hit enter or even quicker on Windows 10: Press Win-Shift-S and drag a box around what you want to copy.

What folder did you add to emby library setup, and with what content type?

Posted

I've added film and television folders and the content type is movies and tv shows.

can you give examples of file names that are not showing up? then let's look at what is showing up and we should be able to find an explanation. thanks.

I recently added Mission Impossible Fallout (2018) - Big Game Spot which scanned and Mission Impossible Fallout (2018) - Trailer which didn't.

it might be due to the word trailer in the file name. that's kind of a reserved keyword. i'll have to verify.

I have hundreds of others ones with trailer in it that work perfectly its just a random few that don't.

can you give another example?

The other ones I can think of are Cam-Girl (2016) - Trailer, Cam-Girl (2016) - Teaser, and Cam-Girl (2016) - DVD Teaser all scanned while Cam-Girl (2016) - Screener Trailer did not. Skyscraper (2018) - Big Game Spot scanned Skyscraper (2018) - Trailer didn't. Baywatch (2017) - Big Game Spot and Baywatch (2017) - Red Band scanned  and Baywatch (2017) - Trailer 1,2 and Baywatch (2017) - Intl Trailer Ready did not. Finally +1 (2013) - Red Band scanned and +1 (2013) - Trailer didn't.

If you click on the video

Mission Impossible Fallout (2018) - Big Game Spot

Does the detail screen have a button to play a trailer?

Ok so that's your answer. If you look at our wiki on trailers:

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Trailers

You can see that your naming convention almost exactly matches our trailer naming guidelines. I think you are just going to have to rename those files. Try removing the dash before the word trailer.

Removed and rescanning we'll see.

Posted

Try removing the word trailer altogether.

Posted

That's impossible. can you please show us what the folder structure looks like now? And please also run a full library scan. Thanks.

Posted

Yea sorry I meant removing the word trailer from all of the files and then running a library scan.

I am looking at the trailer detection to see if it can be improved but as of today with the current release i think you will  need to do that.

Even though its just these few I have thousands of trailers that would take time.

You can use a tool like renamer to remove "trailer" from all the names in one go.

I have some changes worked out. We should be able to get this into a beta sometime next week. Thanks.
