I don't get it

I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I did manage to see my movies that I added. I'm trying to invite a friend. It keeps going to these two spots asking me to sign in then the other window. What am I trying to connect to and how do I do it. Sorry, I'm completely lost. I just joined

Hi,

 

The 'host' is the name (or IP Address) of the server you installed emby server on.  The port is the default so you can leave that.  This assumed they are on the same home network as your server. 

 

An easy test it to go to another PC in your home and open a browser and go to http://servername:8096. Enter the server name, then connect and you should get a list of available users to logon as

 

If this client is remote somewhere, then you may run into other issues, but we wont go right there straight away.  You should always get it working locally before you try to roll it out to people over the internet.

 

I think we forget how daunting a new system can be when not seen before, and over time, you we can take it all for granted.

 

The wiki should help - but I guess i have grown up with the product so have had little need for it (except when Luke points out something new it it that I could not find myself).
