Different database providers have differed in defining seasons within the show, but a while ago I chose to follow thetvdb.com on seasons, splitting them up in year of air date. How can I upgrade and still have seasons split up in year? I've read changelogs, but did not see anything that should be related. OS: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS I can provide more logs if this helps. PenkethBoy 2068 Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 (edited) don't know what changed but just did a test with ..\MythBusters\Season 2003\MythBusters - S2003E01 - Jet Assisted Chevy.mp4 and that worked fine possibly having each episode in its own subdirectory is confusing emby or more probably its not having "Season" before the year - hence why "2003. Season 20. Episode 3" 2003 is picked up as a episode number for season 20 ..... etc Edited February 3, 2018 by PenkethBoy
sv3nno 2 Posted February 3, 2018 Author Posted February 3, 2018 I tried renaming folder from '2003' to 'season_2003' but it still recognized the folder as 'Season 20, episode 03'.. I can't have spaces in my folders, you see. I'm gonna try locking the seasons down in Metadata Manager, and try the upgrade again.

sv3nno 2 Posted June 9, 2018 Author Posted June 9, 2018 (edited) I've been trying with different versions of emby, and it seems to me there has been a change in how seasons metadata is stored. The variable "path" has been removed from the "season" item in new seasons being discovered. I have media stored like this: /mnt/emby/series/mythbusters/2003/episode_1/mythbusters_s01e01.avi /mnt/emby/series/mythbusters/2003/episode_2/mythbusters_s01e02.avi /mnt/emby/series/mythbusters/2003/episode_3/mythbusters_s01e03.avi /mnt/emby/series/mythbusters/2003/episode_4/mythbusters_s01e04.avi /mnt/emby/series/mythbusters/2003/episode_5/mythbusters_s01e05.avi Season 2003 does not have a path stored with it in, so Emby always tries to resolve these episodes to season 1, and season 1 does not exist in the database for the show Mythbusters (at thetvdb.com). In earlier versions of Emby, it knew that since the episode mythbusters_s01e01.avi was in the path /mnt/emby/series/mythbusters/2003/ , it should be episode 1 in season 2003. Now it does not. Before anyone says "why do you not just change the filename of the episodes", no, I can not. Is this correct, that the 'path' variable has been removed from the Season metadata item in Emby? Some of the episodes appear under a "Season Unknown", but not all. I have managed to go through the episodes in that unknown season and tag them with the right episode and season number, but a lot of the episodes are missing from the show altogether. All this started when I upgraded past version 3.2.34.0. I'll ask again: Is this correct, that the 'path' variable has been removed from the Season metadata item in Emby since 3.2.34.0? So that it relies more on filenames instead of file location?
sv3nno 2 Posted June 15, 2018 Author Posted June 15, 2018 I'm on 3.4.1.0. Seems there was exactly same behaviour on any version past 3.2.34.0 though. After upgrade, in a library scan, it would delete all Mythbusters seasons and then try to create them again but fail to do so.

sv3nno 2 Posted July 15, 2018 Author Posted July 15, 2018 Thanks alot for updating this thread Happy2Play, I guess I'll be waiting for the stable release to come out and then check if it works. Currently I have this behaviour: The show image states 276 episodes, which is mostly correct. Inside the show, there's 6 seasons with a total of 36 episodes. All episodes are 'unwatched'. Those have been tagged manually from the "unknown season" which disappeared when all episodes within it was tagged with the correct season. Some 240 episodes does not show within any season, and does not show up in metadata manager. I would manually tag them, if I was able.. Any other way to dig deeper into metadata, and see where they have disappeared?
