Thanks alot

Moi je note le pays manuellement dans les Tags de chaque film.

Par la suite avec la recherche d'un pays en choisissant tags comme choix, j'obtiens

la liste de tous les films pour le pays choisit.

I've also tried handling this small feature by tags but got stuck with some issues.

Example Resident Evil:

Field https://thetvdb.com/movies/resident-evil https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/1576-resident-evil
Original Country Great Britain United States
Production Countries France - Germany - Great Britain Canada - France - Germany - United Kingdom

Just looked up the film on IMDB and it says https://www.imdb.com/de/title/tt0120804/
Countries of origin: Germany - United Kingdom - France - Japan - United States

This filter is no use without proper data.

KF,

Yes, getting this data from online sources is a service that each of these sources sells with annual subscription fees.  You can see an example of these services here:
https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/prodview-wdqq4hg3bcbws

You will notice the $150K annual fee also has metered costs.

So, retrieving this online information about the origin country of all possible media either needs this subscription or some other agreement from whatever online source that offers this information.  If you want this data, try to find a source that offers it with a lower or no cost.  It may be available.  Typically, it isn't.  These types of fees are the methods that most all large search engine and social media sites have to earn revenue.  Perhaps you assumed that such online data was free.  I can understand this idea, because when we use the Internet, a lot of information looks to be free.  It's different with companies that use online licensing.

Hi vis,

As much as I'd love to see IMDB data in Emby, I know that it won't happen in near future. I just wanted to point out that the existing metadata sources like TheTVDB or TheMovieDB are not very reliable as media source and sometimes contradicting or just false.

After asking ChatGPT, I got another answer which matches more with my reception

Quote

The Resident Evil film series (starting with the first movie in 2002) is primarily from Germany and Canada, with United Kingdom and United States also involved in production. The films were produced by Constantin Film, a German company, and Impact Pictures, a UK-Canadian production company.

So, while the franchise is based on the Japanese video game series by Capcom, the 2000s Resident Evil films are mainly German-Canadian productions.

All in all, I chose to ignore the country of origin altogether, as the metadata is a pure mess.

KF,

I actually add Country and Languages into Tags manually.  I get the results you are looking for, but it is not automated.  I do like the sorting options, but how often would a user actually use this?

Honestly, without auto collections/playlists this feature wouldn't help much.

I had a script that scraped the tags from the mentioned sources, and the only usable solution purely with tags was adding unicode icons in front, see the remainder of this practice below.

Messed up tv show tags; I don't care as I haven't found any practical use. 'Cunk on Earth' had multiple origin countries at the time of scraping.

I'm now using continents only, as it's annoying having 300+ countries, mostly US and hundreds of countries with only a single movie present.

Hi @Luke

Any chance we'll see this very old request (filed way back in 2018) of adding country of origin to the movie details page as well as a filterable field in the movies overview some time soon?

HI, yes it's certainly possible. Thanks.
