Figured out some of the seek issues I was having..

I recently got a Shield TV and had it setup in the basement on a 1080p tv with no sound bar, worked great, seek was fast no issues with the audio taking a long time to catch up etc.

Moved it to the TV upstairs and the seek was really messing up, took the sound a long time to catch up with a big seek.   I was seeing the same thing on the FireTV Stick (2nd gen) on the same TV.

Anyways the TV has a sound bar connected via HDMI ARC, what was happening is the TV was switching the audio automatically during big seeks to something else. I noticed it because the LED lndicator lights on the sound bar were going crazy during the seek operation.   

 

I went into the TV settings and the audio was set to "Auto", so I changed it to PCM and the issue with the sound bar went away.  I don't know if I am loosing anything by having it hard set to "PCM".

Has anyone else seen issues with sounds bars like this and ARC?
