That sounds like the very type of thing one would have to search for in order to find it when they did want it.  How are they to find those if they are blocked from search?

Using the folder structure rather than search

Another example would be music - users sometimes listen to music and when they do this will use the music library and look for an artist / album etc. Emby is 90% of the time used purely for TV and Movies, so anything else in search is a distraction.

Use case 1 would allow for an easy usability experience for most users, Use case 2 would allow users who specifically want these showing in search results to be able to turn this on

Right but aren't those all personal choices that each user should be able to make?

My feeling is that to make this consistent with the rest of our system it belongs as an individual user preference.

This has been added for 4.9.1.17 as a user preference for each library:

Decision on what library can or cant be searched is on emby admin user and server it self. Basic user on system should not have this option at all, this is again wrong direction for this feature. Right direction would be that emby admin controls it, and if admin wants he could enable this feature for user/s.

Way too many important stuff over the years in emby system is thrown on "per user", way too many, emby admin has less and less control each day.

Most users won't know about this option as it is hidden away. Most users (excluding admin) will just search, they won't know that they could search just one library.

I think this should have been placed in the search screen and be able to filter from there

Update: After some internal discussion we're going to move this from user settings to a library option. Thanks guys.
