Music Metadata/Art save locations problems

Hi,

 

I have two problems/bugs with the metadata/art save locations for music files. I have "save metadata with media" checked.

 

1) Album art is not being saved in album folders. Previously reported... been this way since ver .26?

2) Album artist info, metadata art etc. is by default being created/saved in the \progamdata\metadata\artists\ folder. I recently did a fresh install to "upgrade" to this new folder structure and current settings.....

I believe I have read some discussion that this is expected behavior, but really should be considered a bug. The info seems to be supported in both places. I can cut and paste from the artists folder and correctly place the info with media. It just seems like a really unnecessary manual step.

 

right now by default the only thing that gets saved with music media by default is album.nfo's .

Thanks for your quick reply!!

 

My thought was for the new/casual user of emby. It is confusing and potentially a source of pain if they don't know they need to copy back the artists folder on any kind of fresh install. It could be a trade off between technical considerations and user satisfaction..

You don't need to copy them, or anything at all, why not just leave them as they are and enjoy your music?

I have worked on my music collection for years. I have art and metadata from anywhere I can find it, to supplement what is available in emby by download (which is a pretty could start and for most people adequate). 

 

For instance in my jazz album collection. The release date captured by emby is the cd date which can be almost anything so pretty useless  ( I have asked repeatedly for emby to capture "OriginalYear") but.....  

 

I listen and enjoy my music all the time.... I guess I am a serious collector as well

The problem with the artist folder is the chance of incorrect matching is very high. In other words, you may have a set of folders arranged by artist/album, but it's very difficult to detect that in an automated fashion. On the other hand, not doing it at all does away with all of those problems so that it just works.
