Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I have an HTPC setup with an LG OLED TV. I have Stuttering every several minutes while watching video. I also have oversaturation. Reds and blues are really bad. I can't find any way of changing the mpv player settings inside of Emby. I know it's the player because I downloaded MPV and was able to adjust the saturation and it was perfect. How can I control the enternal player with the keyboard like I can with the stand alone player?
Luke 42077 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Hi, we don't have all of these settings exposed in the emby interface, but you could use a custom mpv.conf file to customize mpv settings.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 If I could figure out how to make it work right I would use the stand alone as an external player so that I could have control over the settings.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 I searched Google and couldn't find any available. I would have thought people would be making them.
Luke 42077 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 People would be making what, custom mpv conf files? There are plenty of people here doing that such as @
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 I originally thought it was my setup. I bought three graphics cards and spent days changing operating systems an settings before I figured it out.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 I really like how fast you respoded to me.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 I even went as far as to buy Ember. I never thought I would have spent $4.99 on a turd.
Luke 42077 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 A custom mpv.conf file is an advanced topic so our documentation is a little sparse on that at this point. You should be able to follow mpv documentation though and @ will have some insight as well.
Guest asrequested Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 You can alter almost any setting with the mpv in theater. Are you just wanting to adjust the saturation?
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 Yes and the stuttering eventually. Mainly the oversaturation though. The stuttering is odd, it playes silky smooth for awhile and then for 10 seconds or so it stutters, then goes back to normal. The GPU and CPU stays at a steady with no fluctuation durring stutter.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 I actually think it's dropping frames.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 One thing I did notice is it only stutters in windows 10, windows 7 it was smooth but no HDR and the quallity was lower.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 Other than this I really like Emby, it puts P@#x to shame on video quallity.
Guest asrequested Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 You can see what's happening in the stats. Press Ctrl+j or use the cog in the overlay.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 Looks like the stutter is something else. No frame drops.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 So, it looks like I just need to deal with the saturation issue.
Guest asrequested Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 So you know how to make and use an mpv.conf?
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 You should really think about making a version that allows the keyboard controls. Some videos look just fine and don't relly need adjusting, some are way off. It would be nice to adjust it on the fly.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 I think that would make this app way more popular.
Guest asrequested Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 That was raised when we were initially testing it. But this the first time anyone has reported disparity between videos. Adjusting on the fly isn't possible. The mpv.conf is preesetly the only way to do it. Are you sure the saturation isn't HDR related? If you want to use an mpv.conf, I can help with that.
Allenwalters 1 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 It would turn Emby into a P@#x killer.
